DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis football team (1-5, 0-4 RMAC) will look to right the ship on Saturday afternoon as the Skyhawks head on the road to Chadron, Nebraska, for a 1 p.m. Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference showdown with the Eagles of Chadron State (2-4, 1-3 RMAC) on Elliot Field at Don Beebe Stadium.

Confidence is Key
Despite a titled 58-24 final score last weekend in the Skyhawks loss to No. 16/14-ranked CSU Pueblo (6-1, 5-0 RMAC), Fort Lewis had plenty to be proud of as FLC led the conference-leading ThunderWolves 14-13 at halftime and trailed only nine points, 30-21, entering the fourth quarter. Stone Walker supplied a career-high three touchdowns by way of a pair of four-yard and eight-yard connections to Jamille Humphrey and Xavier Rawls, respectively, while also rushing for a three-yard score.

Roster Leaders
Jacob Penney has been Fort Lewis' leader on the defensive side of the ball this season as the redshirt junior leads the conference and ranks seventh in NCAA DII with 67.0 tackles this season for an 11.2 tackles per game average, a mark that sits sixth in DII. In the trenches stands six-foot-six Durango native Walter Stauffer who ranks third in the RMAC in tackles for loss coming off the edge for 7.5 tackles for a combined 20 yards lost thus far. Hunter Villavicencio, the Skyhawks 2023 Second-Team All-RMAC selection, stands fifth in DII and second in the league averaging 45.3 yards per punt with 1,450 yards on the season.

High-Output Eagles
Chadron State is coming off a 1-1 split over its past two games despite racking up 82 combined points. The Eagles bested Adams State (0-6, 0-4 RMAC) at home 52-3 on Oct. 5, before losing an offensive shootout 33-30 to New Mexico Highlands (1-5, 1-3 RMAC) on a 28-yard receiving touchdown with 1:08 seconds left in the contest. Earlier this season, the Eagles earned its first win of the season, 17-10, over NAIA University of Jamestown (0-6, 0-4 Frontier) before nearly upsetting No. 4/5-ranked Colorado School of Mines (5-1, 3-1 RMAC), 13-12.

Impact Eagles
Graduate student DJ Ralph resides under center for Chadron State with the six-foot-three San Diego, California, native throwing for 520 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception on 49 completions in 72 attempts (68.1 percent). Ralph has three receivers with two touchdowns each, including Jamahd Monroe, Grant Swenson, and Rollin George III, with Peter Krohn and Tommy Thomas each adding a score as well. On the ground, sophomore Jake Marschall has 451 net yards and one score on 106 carries with only 11 yards lost this season. Defensively, Reed Henkel, Xavier Harrell, and Logan O'Brien have each racked up 40+ tackles with 48, 43, and 41, respectively.
