Plewe leads Skyhawks through opening round of CSU Pueblo Fall Invitational

PUEBLO, Colo. – Fort Lewis freshman Dimery Plewe leads the Skyhawks through the first round of the CSU Pueblo Fall Invitational with a seven-over 79 through her first trip around the Pueblo Country Club. As a unit, FLC resides in ninth place with a team score of 331 (+43)
 
Plewe, a junior transfer from Idaho State and a native of Cortez, Colo., sits in a six-way split for 17th after dropping in a birdie on hole five to help offset six bogeys and a lone double-bogey on hole one.
 
With a combined score of 331, the Skyhawks chase Chadron State (328, +40) in eighth and North Idaho in seventh (327, +39). Host institution CSU Pueblo, who received votes on the latest Mizuno Women's Golf Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, leads the field on its home course with a ten-over-par 298 followed by Lubbock Christian (302, +14) in second and Western New Mexico (307, +19) in third.
 
Western New Mexico's Alexandria Klemke and CSU Pueblo's Lisa Ekberg found themselves tied for the lead after round one with a pair of one-over-par 73s. The duo holds just a one-stroke lead over a four-way tie for second.
 
Sabrina Ladd pursues Plewe in 31st as the senior carded a ten-over 82. Vivianna Holguin sits a pair of strokes behind in 39th with an 84 (+12), while Sarah Grenemyer and Peyton Gibby reside in 45th and 51st on an 86 (+14) and 87 (+15), respectively.
 
In addition to its five-woman squad, the Skyhawks also sent three unattached individuals: Isabel Bustillos, Annika Gutierrez, and Elina Beyer. Bustillos leads the trio in a tie with Ladd in 31st with an 82 (+10), followed by Gutierrez in 51st on an 87 (+15) and Beyer in 61st with a 97 (+25).

The Skyhawks will play one final round tomorrow morning in Pueblo, Colo., with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
