COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fort Lewis linebacker Jacob Penney and kick returner Orlando Guevara have each earned First-Team All-Colorado honors from the National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter (NFFCC), the organization announced on Thursday.

The NFFCC compiles All-NFFCC First and Second Teams with student-athletes represented from each of Colorado's NCAA football institutions, including Colorado, Colorado State, Air Force, Northern Colorado, Adams State, Colorado Mesa, Colorado School of Mines, CSU Pueblo, Western Colorado, and Fort Lewis. Players are nominated and voted on by each institution's sports information directors.

It's the first time that two or more Skyhawks have been named to the NFFCC's First Team since Jordan Asby, Reed Duvall, and Thomas Stevenson earned the honors back in 2006. In addition, it's Fort Lewis' first First Team selection since Broderick Sargent in 2013.

Penney, a redshirt sophomore product out of Spanish Springs High School in Sparks, Nev., picked up his first career All-NFFCC honor after leading all defensive players in the state of Colorado with 122 total tackles, a mark that ranks tied for 4th in NCAA DII and 15th across all division of NCAA football (DIII, DII, FCS, FBS). Named Second-Team All-RMAC a month ago, Penney also ranked 4th in DII with 11.1 tackles per game while tying for the 2nd-most forced fumbles in the RMAC with three, 20th in tackles for loss with 8.0 for a loss of 25 yards, and also made four quarterback hurries.

Guevara, a graduate of Denver South High School, added to his impressive true freshman campaign with his second postseason honor after being named Second-Team All-RMAC at the end of November. The RMAC Specials Teams Player of the Week (Nov. 11) ranked 2nd in the RMAC and 30th in DII, averaging 25.5 yards per kickoff return. In addition, Guevara was 2nd in the RMAC and 34th in DII with 536 kickoff return yards. Most notably, Guevara was one of nine players in DII to return a kickoff 99+ yards for a touchdown.

CU's Shedeur Sanders, named the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, was tabbed the NFFCC Offensive Player of the Year. Heisman Trophy Winner and two-way star Travis Hunter was named the NFFCC Defensive Player of the Year. Colorado's head coach, Deion Sanders, was named the NFFCC Coach of the Year and Colorado School of Mines' Blake Doud picked up NFFCC Special Teams Player of the Year.
