DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis men's basketball team (5-3) will begin its run through the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference at home this Thursday and Saturday against MSU Denver (5-1) and Regis (2-4) up on the rim in Whalen Gymnasium.

Enjoying Grand Junction
Fort Lewis is coming off a well-earned 11 days of rest after picking up a pair of 82-71 and 68-53 wins over Emporia State (2-5) and Bowie State (5-4) on Nov. 22-23 up in Brownson Arena in Grand Junction, Colo.

The Skyhawks forced 23 turnovers out of the Hornets, marking the third consecutive game with 20+ turnovers forced while shooting 44.8 percent (26-58) en route to its highest-scoring game of the season behind a career-high 23 points from Tru Allen. On Saturday against the Bulldogs, Fort Lewis dominated off the glass, out-rebounding Bowie State 39-to-28 while holding two players to double-digit scoring totals and limiting BSU to the fewest points (53) scored by an opponent since FLC held Regis to 52 back in 2013.

Skyhawks Leaders
Headling the scoring for Fort Lewis is senior guard Biko Johnson. The six-foot-two product from Carson, California, averages 15.4 points per game on 41.6 percent shooting while hitting 34.8 percent from deep, adding 4.1 rebounds per game, 17 assists, and 12 steals. Allen sits just behind Johnson, averaging 12.5 points while handing out 3.1 assists per game and making 11 steals. Off the glass, senior forward Chuol Deng is hauling in 8.5 rebounds per contest, the third-most in the conference, while supplying 11.9 points per game and leading the league with 13 blocked shots.

Roadrunners on the Edge
MSU Denver is coming hot off an 85-60 win over Northern New Mexico (2-13) and, most notably, a commanding 76-56 victory over No. 17 Saint Martin's (9-2). The lone blemish on the MSUD record came at the hands of Eastern New Mexico (4-2), who the Skyhawks downed at home, 93-84 back on Nov. 20. With the hot start, the Roadrunners are receiving votes on both the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the Division II College Sports Communicators Top 25 Polls.

Former Skyhawk Brayden Carter leads the Roadrunners, averaging 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting a commanding 66.7 percent from the field. Senior forward Caleb McGill adds another 14.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game as well, giving MSU Denver a strong presence in the post. As a unit, MSUD ranks sixth in offense (80.7 points per game) and fifth in defense (67.7 points per game) in the RMAC.

Rowdy Rangers
Regis is coming off a split week up in Denver with a flipped schedule to MSU Denver, earning a narrow 58-53 win over Northern New Mexico and falling 76-71 to Saint Martin's. Outside of the Eagles, the Rangers' only other victory came with a 92-83 decision over Lubbock Christian (5-3).

Three Rangers are averaging double figures scoring, including Chase Mayo Harmon (13.0), Jalen Brown (10.5), and Eddy Egun (10.7). The trio led Regis to an appearance in the 2024 RMAC Tournament last season before falling to No. 3 Colorado School of Mines, 90-71. However, it was graduate guard Kobe Sanders, averaging 8.3 points per game this year, who led RU to its win over the Chaparrals with a game-high 28 points on 9-of-13 shooting including a 6-of-9 mark from beyond the arc. As a team, the Rangers rank 14th in offense (67.5) and 12th in defense (74.8) among league opponents.

Quick Turnaround
Fort Lewis will have a short rest this weekend as the Skyhawks jump right back into action next Tuesday, Dec. 10, at home against New Mexico Highlands (6-1) at 7:30 p.m. FLC will then hit Route 160 for a short ride over to Alamosa, Colo., to challenge Adams State (4-3) on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m.
