DURANGO, Colo. – The No. 2-ranked Fort Lewis men's basketball squad (24-2, 19-1 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) has checked in at second in the first rendition of the NCAA regional rankings listed in order from first through tenth outlining the possible South-Central regional matchups for the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

The Skyhawks recently ascended to a program-record No. 2 national ranking yesterday on the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll after capturing the program's second 12-game win streak this season and downing a pair of tough Black Hills State (14-12, 12-8 RMAC) and South Dakota Mines (11-15, 9-11 RMAC) teams.

West Texas A&M (24-2, 19-1 LSC), who fell to No. 4 in the latest coaches' poll, stands as the first-overall seed in the region. No. 12-ranked Dallas Baptist (22-4, 16-4 LSC) checks in behind the Skyhawks in third with No. 7-ranked Colorado Mesa (24-3, 20-1 RMAC) and No. 16-ranked Colorado School of Mines (21-7, 15-5 RMAC) in tow at fourth and fifth.

Rounding out the bottom half is Eastern New Mexico (17-9, 13-7 LSC) in sixth, Lubbock Christian (20-8, 15-5 LSC) in seventh, and MSU Denver (18-8, 12-8 RMAC) in eighth. Angelo State (18-9, 13-8 LSC) and Cameron (16-11, 12-9 LSC) stand as the first two teams out in ninth and tenth, respectively.

The top eight teams in the South-Central Region will take part in the NCAA Regional Tournament taking place on Mar. 16-19 at the top overall seed. The winners of the two conference tournaments (LSC, RMAC) will receive an automatic bid into the postseason with the last six spots being filled by at-large selections.

A third round of regional rankings will be released next Wednesday, Mar. 6, before the final sections will be made and announced at the NCAA Division II men's basketball selection show on Sunday, Mar. 10.
