Men’s basketball maintains No. 2 standing in NCAA South-Central Regional Rankings

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College men's basketball team, ranked sixth in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll, maintains its second place standing for the second straight week in the latest edition of the NCAA South-Central Regional Rankings.
 
The No. 6-ranked Skyhawks boast a 26-3 overall record after downing CSU Pueblo (14-15) 102-96 to punch their ticket to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals this Friday, Mar. 8, against No. 21-ranked Colorado School of Mines (24-7) at 7:30 p.m. in Brownson Arena up in Grand Junction, Colo.
 
Fort Lewis capped off its regular season with a 25-3 mark to match the winningest regular season in program history. In addition, the Skyhawks maintained a perfect 16-0 record at home which aided FLC in going 20-2 through league play to set a new program record for conference wins in a season.
 
In this week's rankings, numbers one through seven remained the same with West Texas A&M (26-3) standing as the region's top overall seed. MSU Denver (19-10) dropped to ninth allowing Angelo State (18-9) to jump into the eighth spot as the only change from last week's initial rankings. Now the Roadrunners stand with Cameron (16-11), who remains unchanged at tenth, as the first two teams out.
 
The top eight teams in the South-Central Region will take part in the NCAA Regional Tournament taking place on Mar. 16-19 at the top overall seed. The winners of the two conference tournaments (LSC, RMAC) will receive an automatic bid into the postseason with the last six spots being filled by at-large selections.
 
The final sections will be made and announced at the NCAA Division II men's basketball selection show this Sunday, Mar. 10, at 9:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.
