Skyhawks outdoor track sends groups to Maverick Invite and Bryan Clay Invite

DURANGO, Colo. – The Skyhawks outdoor track teams are splitting up this week, sending student-athletes to the Bryan Clay invite in Azusa, California and the Maverick Invite in Grand Junction.

About the Bryan Clay Invite
The Bryan Clay Invite begins on Thursday and runs through Saturday. Fort Lewis will have competitors on Friday and Saturday. All of the action will be available to stream on FloTrack ($). The Skyhawks are set to toe the line in the 10k, 5k, 1500m, and 800m.

About the Maverick Invite
Fort Lewis will send another squad to Colorado Mesa University for the Maverick Invite. Action begins with the women's 5k on Sunday morning and closes with the men's 4x400m.

Last Time Out
Fort Lewis rested last week after a successful CSU Pueblo Invite the week before. The Skyhawks picked up 15, top-10 finishes.

With just a handful of regular-season meets remaining, the Skyhawks have multiple athletes represented on the list of top times in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. On the men's side, Brady Burrough ranks sixth in the 800m with a time of 1:53.52. Conner Dosmann is eighth in the 1500m (3:50.44), and Ethan Bartlett is sixth in the 10k (14:37.70).

For the women, Katie Heck is ranked fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:12.63. Newcomer Hannah Hartwell is leading the conference in the 10k with an NCAA Provisional time of 16:58.09, and Linda Weigang joins her in fourth place (17:23.94). Hartwell ranks second in the 10k with another provisional time of 35:49.63. Mikenna Hoffman is seventh in the 10k (37:35.41). Weigang is sixth in the 3000m Steeple at 11:09.35.

Fort Lewis will compete in one final regular season meet next week at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open on Friday. Hosted by the University of New Mexico, competition will take place at the UNM Track and Field Complex.
