Skyhawks outdoor track topples program records at loaded Bryan Clay Invite

AZUSA, Calif. – Competing in the largest field in the history of the prestigious Bryan Clay Invite, the Fort Lewis College outdoor track individuals picked up more school records and provisional times.

The team's opening day began with a bang as Hannah Hartwell raced to a first-place finish in the 10k with a time of 34:51.62 to establish a program record. Hartwell's time ranks 11th in NCAA Division II and second in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The next race on the docket for the Skyhawks was the men's 5k which saw Henry Barth establish another school record with a time of 14:25.3. His time ranks 19th in the conference. Bean Minor followed Barth in the 5k with a time of 14:32.22 (24th RMAC)

The day continued with the men's 800m where Brady Burrough ran for another school record with a time of 1:52.77—a mark that sits sixth in the RMAC. Katie Heck began her weekend in the 800m invite and ran for a time of 2:09.68. The time is good for an NCAA Provisional standard and ranks sixth in the conference and 20th in NCAA DII.

Saturday's competition began bright and early with the men's 5k. Elijah Smith led the Skyhawks with a time of 14:30.26, followed by Ethan Bartlett at 14:32.91. Their times are good for 23rd and 25th in the conference, respectively. Mikenna Hoffman followed in the women's 5k where she recorded a time of 17:36.45. Heck followed in the 1500m invite where she earned a time of 4:25.31 to rank sixth in the conference and ninth in NCAA DII. Hartwell also raced in the 1500m and clocked a time of 4:42.45. Conner Dosmann was up next in the 1500m where he re-broke his school record with a time of 3:50.34 (9th RMAC) Burrough rounded out the trip in the 1500m with a time of 3:55.11.

"This was an incredible weekend. We combined for three NCAA provisional marks and nine personal bests. They all went out and put themselves in a great position to win their heats," said head coach Shawn Jakubowski.
