COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the first time in her career, sophomore Samantha Rodgers has been named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.

Rodgers, an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection in 2023, has upped her game in year two. In last week's win over CSU Pueblo, she earned career-highs in ground balls (8) and caused turnovers (5) to guide the Skyhawks to a key victory. Rodgers and the rest of the defensive unit held the ThunderWolves to just two goals in the final 30 minutes to capture an exhilarating 10-9 win at home.

Through nine games, the sophomore has 33 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers to go along with a goal and assist. Her 3.67 ground balls per game ranked second in the conference while her 2.0 caused turnovers per game is third among all league players.

The Skyhawks will look to extend their win streak this week with road games against Colorado Mesa University and Westminster University.
