Skyhawks tracksters increase odds at Last Chance Meet

PUEBLO, Colo. – A small group of Fort Lewis College outdoor track student-athletes took one more crack at improving their times at the CSU Pueblo Last Chance Meet with the hopes of extending their seasons.

Sophomore Elijah Smith began the day in the men's 5000m where he placed sixth with a time of 15:25.61. Junior Hannah Hartwell followed in the women's 5000m where she earned a time of 17:18.91 to place first. Freshman Linda Weigang was the next up in the women's 3000m Steeple where she crossed the line first with a time of 10:51.02. As it stands, Weigang's 3000m Steeple time ranks 26^th in NCAA DII. In the men's 1500m, junior Brady Burrough turned in a time of 3:51.80 to place fourth in the field. Junior Conner Dosmann followed in ninth place at 4:03.14.

Criteria for NCAA Division II Championships
To advance to the NCAA Division II Championships, hosted by Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas from May 23-25, athletes will need to have hit an NCAA Provisional time in addition to being ranked in the top-24 on their respective event. Those rankings can be found here. If an athlete does not declare for their qualified event, they would be removed from the list and each participant below them would shift up one spot.
