Skyhawks Athletics announces 2024 Hall of Fame class

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College Department of Athletics is excited to announce the seven individuals and one team that will be inducted this upcoming fall to the Fort Lewis College Athletics Hall of Fame.

The 2024 Hall of Fame class consists of Mark Kellogg (Women's Basketball-Coach), Audrey George (Women's Basketball-Student-Athlete), Laura Haugen (Women's Basketball-Student-Athlete), Katie Mackey (Women's Basketball-Student-Athlete), Allison Rosel (Women's Basketball-Student-Athlete), Devon Manning (Men's Basketball-Student-Athlete), and Paul Petersen (Meritorious).

It's an honor to host the Hall of Fame Ceremony each year, and we are thrilled that it will take place during Homecoming Week. This is an outstanding class that is very deserving of the recognition. Congratulations on behalf of the Selection Committee, the Department of Athletics, and Fort Lewis College. Tradition is one of our core values and will certainly be on display this October. This year's ceremony is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. social hour and a 6:00 p.m. start on Thursday, October 24th inside of Whalen Gymnasium. Ticket information for the event can be found here.

Dinner will be provided by Perbacco Cucina Italiana with alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverage options courtesy of Durango Coca-Cola and A&L Coors. Guests are encouraged to follow a formal attire dress code for the event. 
 
The Fort Lewis College Athletics Hall of Fame is an effort to recognize former student-athletes, coaches, staff, and others associated with Fort Lewis College Athletics, as well as outstanding teams and the meritorious efforts of alumni and friends on behalf of the College's athletics program. These inductees have distinguished themselves in the field of athletics by virtue of their performance in competition, or through their outstanding contributions on behalf of FLC Athletics.
 

Mark Kellogg – Women's Basketball Head Coach (2005-2012)
In Kellogg's seven years at the helm of the Fort Lewis College women's basketball program (2005-12), the Skyhawks enjoyed the greatest run in school and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference history. Fort Lewis went 173-46 (.790) overall and 116-23 (.835) in league games. He is the college's all-time winningest women's basketball coach, leading the way in total victories (173), conference victories (116), winning percentage (.790), and conference winning percentage (.835).
The Skyhawks won three straight RMAC titles, four RMAC West Division crowns, two RMAC Shootout championships, and earned five straight NCAA Division II playoff berths. FLC made two deep runs into the NCAA playoffs including a run that ended in the 2010 NCAA Division II championship game.

Audrey George – Women's Basketball (2006-2010)
George, a member of the Skyhawks women's basketball team from 2006-10, has her name scattered throughout the record book. A star on both sides of the ball, she ranks 13th in all-time scoring (1,034), 8th in rebounds (677), 2nd in blocks (122), and led the team in blocks in three straight seasons. She was named the team's Most Valuable Player following the 2009-10 season, along with picking up Second Team All-Conference honors and being named the league's Defensive Player of the Year. In total, she was a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-Conference honoree as well as earning Academic All-District distinction. In 2011, she was named to the FLC All-Century team.

Laura Haugen – Women's Basketball (2006-2010)
Haugen, a member of the women's basketball team from 2006-10, closed out her career as a four-time All-Conference award winner. She ranks first all-time in program history in career steals (278), fourth in assists (334), and fifth in three-pointers (167), among several other notable statistical achievements. She was named the team's Most Valuable Player following the 2009-10 season and led the squad in steals during each of her seasons. Her career got off to a hot start after a freshman campaign that earned her RMAC Freshman of the Year distinction, and her senior season wrapped up with Central Region All-Tournament honors and Elite 8 All-Tournament nods. In 2011, she was named to the FLC All-Century team.

Katie Mackey – Women's Basketball (2006-2010)
Mackey, a member of the women's basketball team from 2006-10, was an All-Conference, All-Region, and All-Tournament award winner throughout her career. She ranks second in single-season threes (75), fourth in career scoring (1,368), and fourth in free throws (318). She was recognized as Third Team All-Conference as a junior and First Team All-Conference in her final season. Additionally, she was a two-time Central Regional All-Tournament team member, an RMAC All-Tournament honoree, and closed it out with Second Team All-Region accolades. She was named the team's Most Valuable Player following the 2009-10 season and was named to the FLC All-Century team in 2011.

Allison Rosel – Women's Basketball (2006-2010)
Rosel, a member of the women's basketball team from 2006-10, stands as one of the program's most prolific scorers after compiling 1,648 points throughout her career. The two-time RMAC Player of the Year, seven-time RMAC Player of the Week, and three-time First Team All-Conference hooper ranks top-five in eight statistical categories for the Skyhawks. For three straight years, she led Fort Lewis in scoring, free throws, and rebounding. She was named a consensus All-American, All-Region on three occasions, and was the Central Region Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice. In 2011, she was named to the FLC All-Century team and was the team's MVP following the 2009-10 season.

2009-10 Women's Basketball
There was plenty of success prior to the 2009-10 season, but this group took things to a whole new level. The team ended the season with a 35-4 overall record, an 18-1 clip in conference play, and an unblemished 16-0 mark at home. The team stands as the winningest in program history. The Skyhawks surpassed 100 points twice, including a 120-point effort in a win over Northern New Mexico to rank first all-time in single-game history. They were the RMAC West Division Champions as well as the RMAC Champions and earned the right to host the regional inside of Whalen Gym. Fort Lewis topped Concordia St. Paul in the regional (73-64) to advance to the Elite Eight. Then, the team claimed a 68-59 win over Seattle Pacific to advance to their first National Championship. Ultimately, the Skyhawks fell to Emporia State in the National Championship game to end the year as Runners-Up. The 2009-10 roster carried one All-American, two All-Region, and five All-Conference players.

 

Devon Manning – Men's Basketball (2004-2008)
Devon Manning, a member of the men's basketball team from 2004-08, made a name for himself and etched his name into the record book following a prolific playing career. Manning was named to the All-Conference teams during each of his four seasons, including First Team and RMAC Player of the Year recognition as a senior. That season, he was also an Honorable Mention All-American and a Second Team All-Region award winner. In his final season, he led the team in numerous statistical categories, including scoring, rebounding, steals, and free throw percentage. Manning was a key member of the Skyhawks squads that were named RMAC Champions and advanced to the NCAA DII Tournament three times in his tenure. As a senior, he was named the Don Whalen Athlete of the Year and the team's Most Valuable Player.

Paul Petersen – Meritorious
Paul Petersen was a Skyhawk through and through, finding involvement in athletic, campus, and community pursuits throughout his time on the rim. Petersen retired in 2011 after 27 years of service at Fort Lewis College. When he arrived at FLC, he was the head wrestling coach (the final coach before the program was dropped) and an assistant football coach. Then, he focused his efforts on teaching in the Department of Exercise Science. He eventually earned his spot as chair of the department and spent his years advising, mentoring, and teaching thousands of students—including hundreds of student-athletes. He remained a diehard supporter of Skyhawk Athletics, helping to induct former colleagues and student-athletes into the FLC Athletic Hall of Fame and rooting for the Skyhawks at home games. In 2011, he received the Director of Athletics Appreciation Award, an award presented annually to someone who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the Fort Lewis College Department of Athletics, often over many years.
