DURANGO, Colo. – 2023-24 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference First-Team All-Conference selection Malik Whitaker, who played one season at Fort Lewis and helped the Skyhawks to its second consecutive RMAC Tournament Championship and No. 2 regional ranking in the NCAA Tournament, has signed his first professional contract with the Fellbach Flashers of Germany's Bundesliga Pro B league.

Last season, Fellbach finished in ninth place and one spot out of the playoffs with a 13-13 overall record in the south division of the Bundesliga Pro B league. The Flashers will begin their season in October this fall.

"Playing at Fort Lewis for my senior year helped me a ton," Whitaker shared. "I was pushed to be the very best version of myself every practice, individual workout, and even film session. I'm ready to show that my game translates to the professional level while also remaining open-minded as I try to learn as much as I can. I'm excited for my first season in Germany, and I also want to shout out everyone who came back to Whalen Gymnasium on a nightly basis: the atmosphere was unforgettable!"

Standing at six-foot-six out of Atascocita High School in Houston, Texas, Whitaker created quite the impact in his one year up on the rim. Making 32 starts across his 33 games played, Whitaker averaged 11.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting at clips of 51.9 percent from the floor, 50.7 percent from deep, and 80.0 percent at the charity stripe.

Whitaker went for 20 or more points on three occasions including a career-high 26-point performance on 10-of-14 shooting including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc at home against South Dakota Mines back on Feb. 24. In addition, Whitaker scored in double figures on 19 occasions last season and totaled over 1,300 points and 100 three-pointers across his collegiate career.
