10/13/2025 4:44:00 PM

DURANGO, Colo. – Skyhawks volleyball will look to extend its home winning streak this week with another split schedule, first with a Tuesday match against Western Colorado before hosting Colorado School of Mines on Friday.

Last Time Out
What a week it was. Fort Lewis began competition on Tuesday with a gritty five set victory over Westminster on the road. Fort Lewis hit .207 for the match and limited Westminster to a .160 efficiency. The Griffins were superior at the service line with eight versus just one for the Skyhawks, but the Skyhawks' backcourt defense outplayed the Griffins with a 93-85 edge in digs.

Defense was guided by freshman Alyx Daugherty who came away with a career-high 30 digs to go along with eight assists. Daugherty's mark of 30 digs is the most in a match for a Fort Lewis player since a 32-dig outing by Kamryn Lopez on September 23, 2022.

Junior Jordan DeJesus and freshman Cambria Freymuth delivered double-doubles with a combined 25 kills and 27 digs, while sophomore Addie Garn earned a double-double with 21 assists and 12 digs. Junior Alina Nunez was a difference maker with 13 kills while hitting .414. Freshman Arianna Reyna added 21 assists, nine digs, and three kills in the win.

The Skyhawks erupted at home with a three-set win over (RV) Colorado Mesa University—the first sweep of the Mavericks since 2009. Fort Lewis hit .221 for the match and limited Colorado Mesa to a season-low efficiency of .150. The three-set loss was the first for the Mavericks this season. The Skyhawks earned 52 kills compared to 38 for the Mavericks. The teams combined for 143 digs and 10 blocks in the effort.

Freshman Cambria Freymuth earned a double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs, followed by 11 kills for Jordan DeJesus. Junior Ellie Ames and senior Ryli Kalahiki combined for 13 kills while hitting over .400 on the night. Freshman Arianna Reyna and sophomore Addie Garn coordinated the offense and earned 25 assists and 14 assists, respectively. Freshman Alyx Daugherty led the team defensively with 22 digs while dishing out nine assists.

What's at Stake?
Fort Lewis matched its win total from 2024 win its victory over Colorado Mesa. With 10 matches left to play, the Skyhawks look to capitalize on an excellent start and finish strong heading into postseason opportunities. Additionally, the Skyhawks have earned six, three-set wins through 15 matches. The team totaled just three sweeps in 26 games last season, four sweeps in 2023, and three in 2022. Fort Lewis has not amassed six sweeps since the 2017 season.
