Women's soccer faces Cougars and Roadrunners at home

DURANGO, Colo. – Skyhawks women's soccer brings its shutout streak the Dirks Field for the final time in the regular-season when they host Colorado Christian and MSU Denver for a Friday and Sunday split.

Shutout Streak Lives On
Fort Lewis is riding a six-match shutout streak, matching a program record set in 2014. Sunday's shutout over a talented Regis University program was the 10th of the season (5th most in single season history) and extended the shutout streak to over 540 minutes for freshman goalkeeper Trinity Lujan—a mark that ranks fourth in program history. The Skyhawks rank 9th in NCAA DII in shutouts per game and saves percentage.

Last Time Out
Josie Coulter was the difference maker in the first game of the week, draining a game-winner in a 1-0 final over Black Hills State on the road. The teams were even with 12 shots apiece while Fort Lewis owned a 5-4 advantage I shots on goal. The Skyhawks earned five corners and allowed just one for the Yellow Jackets.

Otts dished a perfect set piece to earn her first assist of the season. Five field players contributed 90 minutes of effort, including seniors Dannon Yake and Renee Junna, fifth year Danielle Gonzales, and juniors Ann Spence and Otts. Freshman Trinity Lujan earned the win with four saves, bringing her goals against average to just .49 on the year.

Fort Lewis wrapped up the extended road trip with a 1-0 victory over Regis on Sunay. The teams were even in the shots category with 14 apiece, including 12 in the second half for Fort Lewis. The Skyhawks carried a slight edge in shots on goal with eight compared to seven for the Rangers. The teams combined for 16 fouls and the Skyhawks earned a 6-1 advantage in corners.

Lujan matched a career-high with seven saves in the contest, bringing her goals against average to an abysmal mark of .45 which ranks third in the conference. Nkrumah drained the game-winner with her first goal of the season thanks to an assist from senior Anna Tucker. On the field, Dannon Yake, Amber Otts, Ann Spence, Renee Junna, Danielle Gonzales, and Josie Coulter contributed 90 minutes of effort.

Scouting Colorado Christian
The Cougars are 2-6-6 on the year and 1-3-5 in conference play following a 7-1 win over New Mexico Highlands in their lone match last week. The team plays to draws frequently, including three-straight before the win over the Cowgirls.

Colorado Christian averages one goal per game while allowing .93 per game from its opponents. The team puts 7.8 shots per game up with a .550 shots on goal percentage. They have 14 assists, 36 corners, and 95 fouls on the year.

Ava Dinvernso leads the team with four games and three assists, followed by Sophia Tagge with four goals and two assists. Kira Merrell and Taylor Tobolski lead the team in minutes played with 1191 and 1168, respectively. Mia Mares has been the primary goalkeeper with 12 games under her belt, 47 saves, and a .87 goals against average.
 
Scouting MSU Denver
The Roadrunners are 1-7-7 on the year and 1-4-4 in conference play after tying their last three matches. The team is 0-3-3 on the road and is coming off a trio of 1-1 scores. MSU Denver's last win came on Oct. 3 against New Mexico Highlands.

The Roadrunners average .80 goals per game while allowing 1.6 from their opponents. They put up 7.1 shots per game with a .439 shots on goal percentage. They have totaled eight assists, 45 corners, and 108 fouls.

Monica Yoder leads the way on offense with three goals and one assist while also ranking second on the squad with 1218 minutes played. Three additional players have two goals this season. Goalkeeper Kayla Caballero has started 13 matches with 19 goals against and 53 saves.
 
Inside the Numbers
Individually, Salazar leads the team with seven goals, followed by Anna Tucker with four. Abila Tapia and Kiana Jamerson each have three goals on the year. Rozlin Gomez has a team-best three assists while Abigail Nkrumah, Tucker, Otts, and Tapia each have two. On the defensive side, Ann Spence has been the ironwoman of the squad, logging 1177 minutes, followed by Renee Junna (1169), Danielle Gonzales (1147), and Josie Coulter (1133). Between the posts, Lujan has established herself as one of the conference's breakout players with an 8-4-2 record, 49 saves, and a .45 goals against average.

Around the RMAC
Within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Fort Lewis moved up to fourth place and clinched a spot in the RMAC Tournament with the win on Sunday. The Skyhawks rank third in goals allowed per game (.43), second in shots per game (16.71), fifth in goals per game (1.64), and third in saves percentage (.893). Individually, Salazar ranks second in the conference in shots per game (3.21) and sits among the leaders in goals per game (.500), while Gomez ranks 12th in assists per game (.214). Lujan ranks third in goals against average (.45) and third in saves percentage (.891).
