Boulder Creek challenges Skyhawks in first two rounds

10/6/2025 7:27:00 PM

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Fort Lewis men's golf will have plenty to improve on tomorrow morning through the third and final round of the National Preview, as rounds one and two proved challenging for the Skyhawks, with no single player finishing below par, and the team posting a combined score of 585 (+9).

Boulder Creek Golf Club, the par-72 championship course that the Skyhawks have been to in each of the last three seasons for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, will once again host the league's championships, as well as the NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championships later in the spring.

As a team, Fort Lewis finished near par in each of its two rounds, shooting a six-over-par 294 in its first trip around the course before cutting down three strokes to fire a 291 (+3) in round two. Standing at 585 overall, the Skyhawks sit ahead of Cal State Dominguez Hills (587, +11), Cal State San Marcos (589, +13), and Stanislaus State (593, +17).

No. 21 nationally ranked Chico State leads the tournament overall with a commanding 11-stroke lead as the top-ranked Wildcats fired off the only pair of double-digit below par rounds of 270 (-18) and 277 (-11) to sit at 547 (-29) overall. No. 25 Midwestern State is in second place with a score of 558 (-18). On the individual leaderboard, Chico State's Ben Mouser will enter the final round with a one-stroke lead after a pair of 67s (-5) put him at 134 (-10).

Senior Jordan Jennings was the only Skyhawk to finish par or better to take a tie for 39th, scoring a 144 (E) after bouncing back from a three-over 75 in round one with a three-under 69 in round two. Additionally, Jennings scored just four birdies and an eagle on hole 13. Traejan Andrews finished three strokes back, using six birdies to finish with a three-over 147 and move into a tie for 57th.

Benjamin Harding and Chase Rogers trail Andrews by one and two strokes, sitting in ties for 64th and 66th, respectively. Harding earned himself an eagle on hole two and five birdies of his own to card a 148 (+4), but Rogers led all Skyhawks with eight birdies en route to a 149 (+5). Ian Henderson made the second-most birdies on the roster with seven, and sits tied with Dallin Stephens, who competed as an unattached individual, as the duo carded identical 155s (+11).

A shotgun start will kick off the final round tomorrow, Oct. 7, at 9 a.m.
