Third Time's the Charm
Fort Lewis has already faced UCCS twice this season, once in a pod match and once in conference play. The Skyhawks suffered losses in both matches but recently went to five sets with the Mountain Lions on November 8. In the loss, freshman Alyx Daugherty matched a program record with 40 digs in the five setter, becoming just the 10th player in the country to reach at least 40 digs this season.

The Skyhawks hit .133 for the match compared to a .177 efficiency for the Mountain Lions. Fort Lewis put up 105 digs for a mark that ranks fifth in program history in a five set match. Junior Alina Nunez was one kill shy of matching a career-high with 21 on the night at an efficient .340 mark. She was backed up by senior Ryli Kalahiki at nine kills (.258) and nine digs. Freshman Arianna Reyna put up a double-double with 27 assists and a career-high 17 digs.

About (RV) UCCS

UCCS ranks second in the conference in team hitting percentage at .249 and second with 1.78 aces per set. Opponent hitting percentage rests at .157 which ties for first in the league, and they rank middle of the pack in several defensive categories—not unusual for a program that puts the ball away at a high clip.

Sophomore Payton Tompkin leads the charge by averaging 3.69 kills per set at a .282 efficiency. Junior Nicole Martin follows with 2.20 kills per set and a .291 efficiency. Two setters run the show and put up nearly identical numbers with Maylen Mitrovich and Audrey Dowd averaging 5.85 and 5.27 assists per set, respectively.

Defensively, Mackenzie Ransom leads all players at 3.47 digs per set, followed by four players with over two digs per set. Sydnee Walker is the primary target on serve receive with 477 attempts and just 15 errors (.966). Martin adds strong net defense to her stat line with .96 blocks per set to rank third in the league. She is also the top server in the conference with .47 aces per set with the next closest player at .42 per set.
