DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis' magic number is one.

With two final home games this Thursday and Saturday against CSU Pueblo (10-14, 5-11 RMAC) and Colorado Christian (10-14, 6-10 RMAC), the Skyhawks men's basketball team (16-9, 10-6 RMAC) needs just one more win to secure a berth and make its fifth-straight trip to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament.

Raffle Giveaways
Thursday night will be Academic Recognition Night and Fort Lewis' Black History Month games presented by Bank of the San Juans and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Saturday will be Senior Day presented by Bank of Colorado. Skyhawks Athletics will be giving away mini basketballs, A&L Coors branded products, and over $350 in gift cards to Fort Lewis College students across both days.

Hold on Tight
Fort Lewis stands alone atop Division I and Division II for the second consecutive week, averaging a nation-leading 12.8 steals per game. More impressively is the fact that FLC is picking up 13.25 steals per game in conference play. Across DII, the Skyhawks are forcing 20.04 turnovers per game and boast a +7.6 turnover margin: marks that both rank fourth in the nation. Looking back at conference play, the Skyhawks force 20.1 turnovers per game for a +8.81 turnover margin. Leading the way for FLC is redshirt freshman guard Stewart Erhart, a three-time RMAC Defensive Player of the Week, who has burst onto the scene this season, averaging 7.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.48 assists, and an astounding 2.48 steals per game. Against league opponents, Erhart is managing 2.8 steals per game.

Postseason Outlook
The RMAC Tournament will feature the top eight of the league's fifteen total teams. And as of Wednesday, the Skyhawks reside in a three-way tie for fourth with UCCS (16-8, 10-6 RMAC) and Black Hills State (14-10, 10-6 RMAC). However, Fort Lewis owns the tiebreaker with head-to-head victories over both foes. In addition, the Skyhawks are one game back from third-place MSU Denver (18-7, 12-5 RMAC). Each of the league's top three seeds will compete against one another over the next four games, leaving plenty of room for shifting among the top seeds.

A Look at The Pack
CSU Pueblo will head into Whalen Gymnasium with a chip on its shoulder on Thursday night as the ThunderWolves look to snap a six-game losing streak, as well as an eight-game losing streak to the Skyhawks dating back to Feb. 20, 2021. CSUP's last two wins came on Jan. 23-25 when The Pack downed Adams State (10-14, 5-11 RMAC) 92-88 in overtime before defeating New Mexico Highlands (10-14, 3-13 RMAC) 69-63 the following contest.

As a unit, the ThunderWolves rank eleventh in offense (71.0 points/game) and sixth in defense (71.3 points/game). Most notably, The Pack holds opponents to the fourth-lowest shooting percentage (43.3 percent) while pulling down the fifth-most rebounds (35.3 rebounds/game).

Four players are averaging double figures for CSU Pueblo, and senior Armon Muldrew leads the way with 11.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.8 rebounds per game on a 42.5 percent shooting from the floor. While the six-foot-two guard leads in scoring, it is six-foot-nine senior forward De'Shaun Cooper who leads the roster with 5.7 rebounds per game while adding another 11.3 points and 1.4 assists per game with a team-high 16 blocks.

Scouting the Cougars
Colorado Christian, who Fort Lewis handled 74-38 up in Lakewood, Colo., back on Jan. 23, will head to New Mexico Highlands on Thursday night before making its way to Durango. The Cougars are looking to rebuild momentum after suffering a 74-47 loss on the road at UCCS last Saturday.

CCU, despite ranking fourteenth in offense (66.5 points/game), sits second in the conference in defense (69.3 points/game) among league opponents. In the last meeting, FLC held CCU to just 25.6 percent (11-43) shooting and 17 first-half points while forcing 25 turnovers. Tate Odvody and Bradley Land led the Cougars with 11 and 10 points, respectively. No other Cougar scored more than four points.

Land, a six-foot-six forward and redshirt sophomore out of Dallas, Texas, is the only player to average double figures for Colorado Christian with 14.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game on shooting clips of 50.2 percent from the floor, 32 percent from the three-point line, and 77.8 percent at the free throw line.

Up Next
Fort Lewis will close out the 2024-25 regular season on the road next week, first traveling to Chadron State (12-12, 8-8 RMAC) for a Thursday night contest at 7 p.m. on Feb. 27, before capping the season at South Dakota Mines (4-20, 4-12 RMAC) on Saturday, Mar. 1, at 3 p.m.
