ALAMEDA, Calif. – Sarah Grenemyer led the Fort Lewis women's golf team in its first tune-up of the spring over at Corica Park Golf Course in Alameda, Calif., as the sophomore notched the highest individual finish among Skyhawks earning a tie for 59th.

No. 46 Cal State East Bay, the tournament's host and regulars at Corica Park, took home team medalist honors by topping No. 32 Cal State Los Angeles by two strokes. The Pioneers carded a 583 (+&7) against the Golden Eagles 585 (+9). The individual medalist wasn't as easy to decide, however, as Cal State Los Angeles' Daniela Andrade and Cal State San Marcos' Madison Murr each tied for first with 139 (-5) totals. Jessup's Jessica Burdick was the only other golfer to finish below par with a 142 (-2). In the end, Murr bested Andrade in a one-hole playoff on hole one to capture medalist honors.

The Skyhawks remained unchanged in its second trip around the 5,803-yard course, matching its first-round score and shooting 37 strokes over par as a squad. Fort Lewis' back-to-back 325s led to a 650 (+74) team total and a 19th-place finish. Northwest Nazarene cut down eleven stokes on day two to jump FLC by a single stroke (649).

Grenemyer, a native of Albuquerque, N.M., began the day in a ten-way tie for 60th along fellow Skyhawk Peyton Gibby. The pair finished eight-over par in round one with a pair of 80s. Through the second round, however, Grenemyer cut down two strokes and shot a 78 (+6) to finish in a three-way tie for 59th on a 158 (+14).

Gibby was the next Skyhawk up, falling into a tie for 69th on the back of an 81 (+9) in round two that solidified a 161 (+17) total. Behind the freshman were Isabel Bustillos and Vivianna Holguin in a tie for 85th with a pair of 166 (+22) totals followed by Dimery Plewe in 92nd on a 168 (+24).

Fort Lewis will return to Durango for a two-week hiatus before starting a four-week, four-tournament road trip with the SMSU Challenge, hosted by Southwest Minnesota State University, at the Wigwam Golf Club Blue Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz., on Thursday and Friday, Mar. 13-14.
