Women's lacrosse travels to Illinois and Missouri for final nonconference games

DURANGO, Colo. – Skyhawks women's lacrosse returns to nonconference play this week with a three-game road trip to Missouri and Illinois.

Last Time Out
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) opener didn't go the Skyhawks' way, resulting in a 21-8 road loss against CSU Pueblo. Fort Lewis tied the game at 6-6 in the second quarter but surrendered 12 goals in the second half en route to the loss.

Fort Lewis was outshot 36-31 in the game, including a 31-28 difference in shots on goal. The Skyhawks were called for 23 fouls that allowed 16 free position shots for the Pack. Fort Lewis had a 10-8 advantage in caused turnovers.

Senior Phoebe Ramirez, sophomore Victoria Barletta, and freshman Jasmine Nguyen each scored two goals. Sophomore Piper Price led the team with a pair of assists. Junior Samantha Rodgers earned seven draw controls to go along with three ground balls and a goal. Three goalkeepers saw time between the pipes with senior Caley Lay picking up six saves to lead the way.

Scouting William Jewell
The Cardinals enter Wednesday's game with a 4-3 record and a 2-2 record at home. They are coming off a 16-8 win over CSU Pueblo and a 14-1 loss to Westminster University. The 2025 season marks the second year of competition for William Jewell, and the program was 1-14 in its inaugural season.

Through seven games this season, the Cardinals have totaled 80 goals and 39 assists while averaging 27.7 shots per game. Their opponents have also scored 80 goals to go along with 41 assists and 25.7 shots per game. The team owns 127 ground balls, 97 caused turnovers, and 85 draw controls. William Jewell's clear percentage rests at 74.6 (100-134).

Four players have scored double-digit goals, led by Olivia Fornelli who has 17 goals and 23 assists (40 points). Fornelli is leading NCAA DII in assists per game (3.29) and ranks 21st in points per game (5.71). Elle Eastwood follows with 15 goals, and the duo of Kaylee Gross and Ella Childress have combined for 22 goals. Kaylee Gross has 20 draw controls, 20 ground balls, and 14 caused turnovers. Three goalkeepers have seen time this season with Claire Eastwood contributing the most minutes. She has a goals against average of 11.97 with a saves percentage of 39.4.

Scouting Quincy University
The Hawks face No. 5 Maryville University before taking on Fort Lewis on Friday. They enter the game against Maryville with a record of 3-2 and a home mark of 2-1. Quincy has one common opponent with Fort Lewis in Davenport University, earning a 12-11 win over in the second game of the season. Quincy was 8-11 in 2024 and advanced to the GLVC Tournament.

Through five games, the Hawks have scored 70 goals while averaging 31.2 shots per game, and their opponents have also scored 70 goals while averaging 31.2 shots per game. Quincy has 89 ground balls, 75 draw controls, and 37 caused turnovers with clear percentage of 80.6.

Amelia Ham leads the team with 20 goals and 13 assists for 40 points, followed by Anni Moran who has 24 goals. Emily Leal paces the group with 30 draws with eight goals and seven caused turnovers. The lone goalkeeper for the Hawks is Madison Whiting Wagner, and she owns a saves percentage of 46.6 and a goals against average of 13.89.

Scouting Rockhurst University
Rockhurst is 3-1 this season with wins over Colorado Mesa (16-14) and UCCS (16-10). The Hawks play three games (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday) before facing off against Fort Lewis next Monday. They were 9-7 last season and have won the last three meetings against the Skyhawks.

The first four games of the season have seen 53 goals, 109 shots, and 27.3 shots per game for Rockhurst. The Hawks have 85 ground balls, 60 draw controls, and 38 caused turnovers. They've limited their opponents to a clear percentage of 70.1.

Elise Magee leads the team in scoring with 12 goals, followed by Reagan Danner with nine. Meghan Thomas has dished out three assists to lead all players. Kylee Pickens serves as a draw control threat with 25 on the year. Mae Beins has played all 240 minutes in goal with a goals against average of 10.5 and a saves percentage of 40.8.

Inside the Numbers
Out of six teams competing in the RMAC, Fort Lewis ranks 6th in goals per game (7.50), 6th in assists per game (2.25), 6th in shots per game (22.25), 5th in shots on goal per game (18.25), and 4th in penalty minutes per game (4:30).

Nguyen ranks 8th in goals per game (2.0) and Zoi Delgado is 9th in assists per game (1.0). Sydney Tannaci is 4th in ground balls per game (2.75) and caused turnovers per game (2.00) and Rodgers is 2nd in draw controls per game (6.25). Caley Lay ranks 4th in saves per game (8.00) and 5th in saves percentage (.386).

Fort Lewis jumps back into conference action and its home debut on Friday, March 21 at 1:00 p.m. against UCCS. The Skyhawks close out the weekend on Sunday with their annual Pride Game against Regis University at 1:00 p.m.
