Women's lacrosse continues conference schedule on the road

DURANGO, Colo. – The Skyhawks women's lacrosse team begins a four-game road stretch this week with conference matchups against Westminster University and Colorado Mesa University.

Last Time Out
Fort Lewis returned home last week after playing its first seven games on the road. Despite the homecoming energy, the Skyhawks struggled offensively, scoring just six goals across two games.

In an 18-3 loss to UCCS, Fort Lewis was outshot 25-17, including a 23-9 disadvantage in shots on goal. The teams combined for 49 turnovers, with the Skyhawks committing eight on clearing attempts. UCCS also controlled the draw, winning 19 to Fort Lewis' nine.

On Sunday, the Skyhawks fell 17-3 to No. 17 Regis. Regis outshot Fort Lewis 40-16, with a 34-11 margin in shots on goal. Fort Lewis committed 23 turnovers and went 11-of-20 on clears. Despite the struggles, both teams recorded 19 ground balls, and Regis held a 16-7 advantage in draw controls.

Scouting Westminster University
Westminster enters the week at 3-5 overall and 0-3 in RMAC play, currently on a three-game losing streak. Last weekend, the Griffins fell to Regis (18-6) and Colorado Mesa (17-6). Their three wins this season came against William Jewell (14-1), Rockhurst (8-7), and Saint Michael's (16-11).

The Mavericks are 4-4 overall but lead the RMAC with a 3-0 record. They have won three straight, including victories over No. 11 Regis (16-11), UCCS (18-15), and Westminster (17-6). Their three losses came against nationally ranked opponents.
