Guintini’s hat-trick fuels No. 9 Skyhawks rout of (RV) Nighthawks

Valverde, Fila, and Pinto record career firsts

DURANGO, Colo. – True freshman Lorenz Guintini notched the first hat-trick of his career in only his fifth career start to power the No. 9 nationally ranked Fort Lewis men's soccer team (3-0-2) to a dominating 8-1 victory over Northwest Nazarene University (3-1-1) to hand the Nighthawks their first loss of the season on Saturday night on a roaring Dirks Field.

Despite conceding early, the Skyhawks went on to score eight unanswered goals, including six first-half goals, which ties the fourth-most goals in a single match in program history, and stands as the most in a half since 2006. In addition, Fort Lewis finished tied with the third-most assists (9), fourth-most points (25), and fifth-most goals (8) in a match in program history.

Fort Lewis dominated offensively, holding possession for nearly 49 minutes of the match and rifling 30 total shots with 13 shots on goal. FLC's constant pressure helped limit Northwest Nazarene to just 12 total shots, four shots on goal, and a game-high six corner kicks.

Guintini, a forward from Avignon, France, was stellar through his 59 minutes on the pitch, scoring thrice while also picking up his first career assist with a give-and-go pass inside the penalty area to Francisco Pinto for Pinto's second goal of the night. Guintini also found netting twice in the 20th and 23rd minutes with a pair of tap-in goals from inside the box, before taking advantage of an over-stretched goalkeeper in the 39th minute, firing an arcing shot nearly 60 yards through the air from his own defensive half into an empty net. Guintini's hat-trick is one of just 13 in NCAA Division II this season.

Alessio Andreottola had quite the night as well, firing off six shots with a pair of shots placed on goal. While Andreottola's scoring streak ended at four consecutive matches, Andreottola set a new career mark, assisting on four of Fort Lewis' eight total goals, giving Andreottola the most assists in a single match in NCAA DII thus far this season.

Pinto and Mathias Valverde each registered their first career goals in tonight's match as well, with Pinto belting an arcing shot from the top of the Nighthawks' penalty area with an assist from Yohann Fila, the first of Fila's career, and Valverde heading down a bending free kick from Pinto late in the 73rd minute. Casey Stracher and Fabrizio Aguilera scored goals as well, marking the fourth and seventh goals of their respective careers. Quinn Bosanko also picked up his third career assist, and Stracher his fifth career assist as well.
