COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fort Lewis College football's Jordan Thomas has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week through week one action after spearheading the Skyhawks dominant defense in its 58-10 win on the road at Arizona Christian.

Thomas, a five-foot-ten corner back out of Canyon del Oro High School and Oro Valley, Ariz., was electrifying in his return to the desert, leading the Skyhawks with three tackles, one solo and two assisted, while also forcing the first of four fumbles, breaking up one pass, and hauling in one of three interceptions.

Just 30 seconds into the game, and on Arizona Christian's first play from scrimmage, Thomas snuffed out a reverse to the far sideline, meeting the Firestorm wide receiver at the line of scrimmage with authority to force the fumble recovered by Samuel Ballas. The play set up an eight-yard double-reverse to Zachary Gaumont for the game's opening score.

Later in the second quarter, with Fort Lewis up 31-3, Arizona Christian looked to throw to the nearside, but the receiver couldn't hang on, giving Thomas an easy catch for his first interception of the season before racing down the sideline back out to the FLC 44-yard line.

In total, the Fort Lewis defense forced six turnovers, including three fumbles and three interceptions. Arizona Christian only recovered one of its four fumbles. The Skyhawks also held the Firestorm to just 220 yards of total offense and 67 yards through the air, and 4-of-11 (36.4 percent) on third down.

Fort Lewis gets to enjoy a bye week this Saturday and will look ahead to hosting Black Hills State (0-2) on Saturday, Sept. 20, for its 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener on Ray Dennison Memorial Field. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
