Momentum for the Postseason
The Skyhawks are coming off a convincing 2-0 home win over Adams State University (2-13-1) last Wednesday. Fort Lewis controlled the pace from start to finish and held possession for nearly 65 minutes. Junior midfielder William Bretvik earned a brace, his second multi-goal effort of the season, as the Skyhawks pelted the woodwork with 30 shots, 12 shots on goal, and 14 corner kicks. Sophomore midfielder Francisco Pinto assisted both goals. The FLC defense limited the Grizzlies to seven shots, only four on goal.

Last Time Against the Hardrockers
Nine days ago, Fort Lewis defeated South Dakota Mines 3-1 in the two sides' first meeting on Dirks Field. Junior forward Nickolas North put the Hardrockers ahead in the 13th minute with a strike that ricocheted off a Fort Lewis defender and found the top corner. The lead lasted all of 17 minutes before Anis Harrar found Fabrizio Aguilera behind the backline and Aguilera chipped the goalkeeper one-on-one to equalize. In the second half, Iver Høihjelle and Francisco Pinto netted goals in the 55th and 56th minutes to clinch the win. Fort Lewis edged South Dakota Mines in shots 17-to-16, shots on goal 8-to-4, and withstood 13 corner kicks from the Hardrockers.

Keys to the Match
Fort Lewis is 9-0 this season when scoring first. The Skyhawks have only one win this season against an opponent who scored first, that being against the Hardrockers back on Oct. 23. In addition to jumping on the scoreboard first, FLC must also maintain consistent pressure in the offensive third, boasting an 8-2-2 record when firing off 10 or more shots. The Skyhawks are also 8-2-1 when drawing 10 or more fouls out of their opponent, and 6-3-1 when firing off five or more corners.

Uncharted Territory for South Dakota Mines
South Dakota Mines will make the program's first-ever appearance in the postseason on Sunday afternoon. Second-year head coach Teren Schuster is off to a 15-12-7 record in his first two years with the Hardrockers, marking a drastic improvement for the program since going 1-14-2 in 2024 prior to his arrival. In addition, the Hardrockers set a new program record this year with eight wins.

Scouting the Hardrockers
South Dakota Mines closed out the regular season with a 2-0 win at Adams State following its loss to Fort Lewis. As the lone wolf for the final week of action, the Hardrockers enjoyed a bye on the final day of the regular season as well as extra time to rest and game plan heading into Sunday's quarterfinal.

Freshman forward Lucas Miranda has spearheaded the Hardrockers offense all season, and sits tied with Fort Lewis' Bretvik for the third-most goals (10) and fifth-most points (21) in the RMAC. North sits closely behind with nine goals and six assists. Junior defender leads the team and the RMAC with 10 assists. 10 different Hardrockers have scored goals, and 11 have earned assists. Senior goalkeeper Claudio Otto will likely protect the net once again, carrying a 1.78 goals-against average and 70.4 percent save percentage with 21 goals conceded and        50 saves against 139 shots faced.

As a unit, South Dakota Mines has averaged 2.41 goals on 16.1 shots, 7.9 shots on goal, and 5.3 corners per game. Opponents have scored 1.65 goals on 11.4 shots, 5.5 shots on goal, and 4.8 corners per game.

Looking Ahead
A win on Sunday would send Fort Lewis into the RMAC semifinals and set up a rematch on the road at Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium in Pueblo, Colo., against second-seeded and No. 2 nationally ranked Colorado State University Pueblo (13-0-3). The match is set for a 7 p.m. start.
