Indoor track and field closes out RMAC Championships

GUNNISON, Colo. – Skyhawks indoor track and field closed out the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday with four additional All-Conference honors and a slate of personal-best performances.

The day opened with the men's triple jump, where freshman Bryant Wainright recorded a season-best mark of 12.99 meters to place 16th overall.

Fort Lewis followed with a strong showing in the men's mile, placing two student-athletes on the All-Conference team. Senior Brady Burrough led the charge, earning First Team All-Conference honors with a time of 4:16.57, which also met the NCAA provisional standard. Sophomore Brady Hubbard added a sixth-place finish in 4:19.70, securing Second Team All-Conference recognition and an NCAA provisional mark. On the women's side, senior Hannah Hartwell placed eighth in the mile with a time of 5:11.12.

In the women's 400 meters, freshman Eliana Angelino delivered a standout performance, finishing third in 56.57 to earn First Team All-Conference honors and an NCAA provisional mark. Angelino was one of just two freshmen to advance to the finals in the event.

The men's 800 meters produced another All-Conference finish for Fort Lewis, as sophomore Armando Fuentes placed fifth in 1:55.10 to claim Second Team honors. Sophomore Payton Whitehead followed with an 11th-place finish in 1:56.37.

Senior Claire Peterson and freshman Caroline Laughlin represented the Skyhawks in the women's 800 meters. Peterson led the pair with a 10th-place finish in 2:21.71, while Laughlin placed 12th in 2:21.71.

Junior Elijah Smith added to the team's All-Conference total in the men's 3,000 meters, finishing eighth in 8:39.88 to hit the NCAA provisional standard.

The championships concluded with the 4x400-meter relays. On the men's side, the quartet of Brady Burrough, Armando Fuentes, Payton Whitehead, and Brady Hubbard ran a season-best 3:27.70 to place eighth. The women's relay team of Janaya Mancell, Lily Vetrees, Josie Coulter, and Eliana Angelino secured a fifth-place finish with a time of 4:00.47.
