Women's lacrosse continues RMAC play on the road

DURANGO, Colo. – Skyhawks women's lacrosse continues its season this week with a pair of road games in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play, facing UCCS on Friday and No. 17 Regis University on Sunday.

Last Time Out
Last week featured a neutral site game against McKendree University and the team's home opener versus CSU Pueblo. The Skyhawks surrendered a 15-2 loss to McKendree despite trailing just 2-1 at halftime. The Skyhawks were outshot 37-23 overall, including a 27-14 advantage in shots on goal for McKendree. Fort Lewis also struggled with turnovers, committing 27 while finishing 17-for-27 on clear attempts.

The home and conference opener on Saturday ended in a 12-8 score in favor of CSU Pueblo. The teams finished with 23 shots apiece, though CSU Pueblo placed 21 on goal. Both teams committed 32 turnovers, while the Skyhawks held a slight 31-29 advantage in ground balls.

Defensively, senior Samantha Rodgers led the team with nine ground balls and eight caused turnovers. Her eight caused turnovers set a new program record, surpassing her previous mark of seven, which she had recorded on two occasions. Senior Diamond Velasco led all players with four goals, while four additional Skyhawks scored one goal each. Junior goalkeeper Olivia Tilbury recorded nine saves.

Scouting UCCS
The Mountain Lions sit 2-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play after a loss to Westminster (12-11) and win over Colorado Mesa (8-7) last week. UCCS has played a challenging schedule thus far with games against No. 3 UIndy and No. 6 Maryville. UCCS was 9-6 last season with a 6-4 mark in league play.

As a team, UCCS has totaled 57 goals to go along with 23 assists. The team has a shots on goal percentage of .699 with 25.5 shots per game. The Mountain Lions have 130 ground balls, 74 draw controls, 32 caused turnovers, and a .882 clear percentage.

A pair of players have double-digit goals this season, led by Sofia Watts with 11. The team's point leader is Allison Hoffman with 14, followed by Watts (13) and two additional players with double figures. Charlotte Fannin leads the way with 18 ground balls to go along with her eight goals and team-best four assists. Jade Wilson is the primary draw control specialist with 21. Delaney Gnos has played 304 minutes in goal with a .431 saves percentage and both wins.

Scouting No. 17 Regis
The Rangers are 4-4 on the year and 0-1 in conference play with a 12-11 loss to Westminster. Regis has faced four nationally ranked teams this season with three losses and a win over No. 16 Florida Tech. Regis was 14-5 in 2025 with a 9-1 mark in conference play, winning the RMAC Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Regional Semifinal.

Regis has scored 91 goals this season with 33 assists and a .837 shots on goal percentage. Additionally, the team has 144 ground balls and 76 caused turnovers. The Rangers have a .830 clear percentage and have scored 28 free position goals.

Leading the team in scoring is Lexie Springman with 22 goals and seven assists. She is backed up by Maggie Schipfer with 21 goals, followed by Aubrey Benton with 16. Defender Sophie Katnik has 22 ground balls and a team-high 12 caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Brigit Goetsch leads the team with 25 ground balls and owns a 11.79 goals against average with 90 saves.

Defensive Dandies
Fort Lewis has been led by its defense through three games with the team second in ground balls per game (26.33) and first in caused turnovers per game (13.33) in the conference standings. Much of that prowess runs through senior Samantha Rodgers who leads the league in ground balls/game (5.0) and caused turnovers/game (6.33). Along with leading the conference, Rodgers' marks rank second and first in NCAA DII, respectively.

Junior goalkeeper Olivia Tilbury has stepped up this season as well, ranking second in the conference in saves percentage (.427) and saves per game (10.67). Tilbury has seen significant improvement from her sophomore season where she owned a .304 saves percentage.

Dennison Memorial Field starting Friday. March 27 for four-straight home games. In the two week stretch, the Skyhawks will face Westminster, Colorado Mesa, Regis, and UCCS.
