Erhart named Defensive Player of the Year, Smith All-RMAC Honorable Mention

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its 2025-26 Men's Basketball all-conference selections on Thursday afternoon, highlighted by the selection of Stewart Erhart as the league's Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to an All-RMAC Honorable Mention nod for Jaxon Smith
 
A redshirt sophomore out of Tanana, Alaska, Erhart becomes just the second Skyhawk in program history to be named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year alongside two-time selection Alex Herrara (2012-13, 2013-14) since the merger of the league's east and west divisions. Erhart joins elite company alongside Herrera, DeAndre Lansdowne (2008-09), and Ryan Johnson (2007-08) as the program's fifth Defensive Player of the Year overall.  
 
Also, a member of the All-RMAC First-Team, Erhart has thwarted opponents across the floor, grabbing 91 steals this season, which stands as the third-most in a season by a Skyhawk behind Jeff Norton's 97 steals in 1985-86 and 96 in 1983-84. Erhart's 91 steals, and 3.5. steals per game average, both lead all of NCAA Division II this season. Additionally, in his 57 career games, Erhart has grabbed 170 career steals to stand fifth all-time in career steals at FLC.
 
Erhart has handled business on both ends of the floor, however, and most recently, lived up to his first-team distinction last night when he scored a career-high 32 points against Adams State (Mar. 3) to send the Skyhawks to the semifinals of the 2026 RMAC Tournament. This season, Erhart is averaging 17.4 points per game, shooting 44.5 percent from the floor, 38.6 percent from the three-point line, and 84.8 percent at the free-throw line. In addition to scoring the seventh-most points per game in the RMAC, Erhart has added 109 rebounds (4.2 rebounds/game) and 90 assists (3.5 assists/game). He was also twice named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week (Jan. 12, Jan. 19) and RMAC Defensive Player of the Week (Dec. 15, Jan. 12) this year.
 
Smith, also a redshirt sophomore guard along with Erhart, has also enjoyed a quality inaugural season with the Skyhawks, culminating in an All-RMAC Honorable Mention nod. From Bountiful, Utah, Smith joined Fort Lewis this season and has been one of the strongest outside scoring threats for FLC. Firing at 37.1 percent from the field and 37 percent from beyond the arc, Smith has turned in a team-second-best 14.5 points per game, with 74 treys to his name on the year. Smith owns the tenth-best three-point percentage in the RMAC while knocking down the fourth-most three-pointers per game at 2.6. Additionally, Smith has burst onto the scene as one of the best free-throw shooters in the country, with a 93.7 percent (104-11) clip. Smith ranks second in DII and trails the national leader by a narrow 0.3 percent margin despite taking 28 more attempts.
 
Fourth-seeded Fort Lewis (18-10, 15-5 RMAC) continues its charge through the 2026 RMAC Tournament on Friday night as the Skyhawks look to challenge top-seeded and No. 13 nationally ranked Black Hills State University (25-4, 17-3 RMAC) inside the Donald E.
