2016: Saw action in all 11 games … Twelve of his 33 tackles on the season were solo stops … Recorded a season best six tackles against Black Hills State and New Mexico Highlands … Assisted on a sack against the Cowboys … Added three solo tackles as part of his five tackles at Dixie State.

2015: Did not play.

2014: Played in five games.

2013: Saw action in nine games ... Made 10 tackles (six solo tackles) and four tackles for a loss of 13 yards ... Recorded an interception against Adams State on Nov. 2 and added a quarterback hurry at Chadron State ... Posted a season high four tackles at Southern Utah.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Goddard High School in 2013 … Two-year starter at defensive end, tight end and punter for the Rockets … Helped team to New Mexico 4A state football title in 2012 and runner-up finish in 2011 … Earned 4A All-State honors on offense and defense … Named to 4A South All-Star Team as a defensive end … Two-time All-District 4-4A in football … Team won three straight District 4-4A football titles … Played post on the Rockets’ basketball team … Helped Goddard to New Mexico 4A state runner-up finish in 2010-11 … Hoops squad won back-to-back District 4-4A championships … Three-time All-District 4-4A in basketball … Competed in 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 300-meter hurdles, 4x100-meter relay and discuss in track & field … Qualified for state in the 4x100-meter relay … Played tennis as No. 5 singles player … Helped team to district championships three times … Received District 4-4A All-Academic honors as a junior and senior in football, basketball and track & field.

COACH SMITH SAYS: “David is a big-bodied, athletic defensive end that I think is going to grow into a big man. We think he’s going to be a good player in the future. He is an all-state punter as well … that’s a plus. We’re going to continue to work with him in that regard.”
