DURANGO, Colo. — The Fort Lewis College women's basketball team defeated its alumnae 105-64 tonight in Whalen Gymnasium in its final preseason exhibition.

USA TODAY EPSN women's NCAA Division II national rankings, had seven players score in double figures.
Ashley Kuchar led the way with 17 points and hit four of six three-pointers. Other Skyhawks to score in double digits included
Mary Rose Paiz (16 points, 3-of-3 from behind the arc),
Jenna Santistevan (12),
Erika Richards (11),
Jamie Simmons (10 points, 10 rebounds),
Stephanie Beeman (10), and
Alex Easterbrook (10).
Fifteen alumnae from the 1970s through last year were in attendance, with 12 suiting up for the contest. Audrey George (2006-10) led the veterans with 11 points, three assists, three rebounds, and three steals, while Amy Mohr (2001-05) added nine points.
“It was a good game all around,” said seventh-year FLC head coach Mark Kellogg. “It was good to get out there and play in a game-like atmosphere. We got a bunch of players quality minutes. We still have a long way to go, but that was a good look for us. The alumni did a good job and gave us the best that they had.”
Ten members of FLC's All-Century Team with ties to women's basketball were in attendance and honored in a pre-game ceremony, including Kellogg, George, Mohr, Melinda Balm-Carter (1987-89), Laura Haugen (2006-10),
Abby Jackson (2007-11), Katie Mackey (2006-10), Alison Rosel (2006-10),
Dana Schreibvogel (2008-present), and Hayley Hollenga (2007-10 and currently a senior on the No. 23-ranked FLC women's soccer team)
“It was extra special,” Kellogg said of facing many of his former players. “There were so many familiar faces, I didn't know which team I was coaching. We had our all-time leader in every statistical category back.”

Additional alumnae to return included Eva Duce (2007-08 as a player, 2008-10 as an assistant coach), Erin Kerr-Smith (2005-09 as a player, 2009-10 as an assistant coach), Lauren Redfern (2004-08), Barb Culmer-White (1986-90), Claire Janusz (2008-09), Marcy Jung (1977-78), Natasha Miera (2000), and Cindy Williams-Gillen (1986-90). The alumnae team was coached by Cathy Simbeck, who was head women's basketball coach for the Raiders and Skyhawks from 1985-95.
All five starters from FLC's 2009-10 team that advanced to the NCAA Division II championship game — George, Haugen, Jackson, Mackey, and Rosel — played in the game.
Fort Lewis opens its season at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, when they travel to Portales, N.M., to face Eastern New Mexico.
