DURANGO, Colo. — No. 4 Fort Lewis (21-1 overall, 16-1 in the
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) defeated Colorado State-Pueblo (13-8, 10-7) 87-73 tonight as senior point guard
Abby Jackson became the Skyhawks' all-time assists leader.
Jackson's assist on a
Jenna Santistevan layup with 5:37 remaining in the second half moved her past Carrie Gomer (1982-86) and gave her 358 helpers during her four-year career. Jackson is also FLC's all-time leader in victories (120) and three-point field goals (211).
Jackson's record-setting night overshadowed several stellar performances by her teammates.
Dana Schreibvogel matched her career high with 28 points (12 of 17 field goals) to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists. Santistevan scored a career-high 17 points (eight of nine from the field) and had a career-best five steals.
Four Skyhawks scored in double figures, including Jackson (16) and
Erika Richards (13).
The ThunderWolves, who have traditionally been a late-season nemesis for Fort Lewis, shot well from all areas, especially three-point land, making 14 of 25 treys (.560). Colorado State-Pueblo also shot .500 from the field (24 of 48) and .786 from the line (11 of 14).
The ThunderWolves were led by Rachel Espinoza (19 points, four of five from long distance). Amanda Bartlett (15), Erika Hicks (14) and Taylor Fox (12) also scored in double digits.

Fort Lewis' trademark defense helped them distance themselves from the Pack. The Skyhawks notched 13 steals and five blocks while forcing 21 CSUP turnovers. FLC also won the rebounding battle 28-23.
The Skyhawks led 41-32 at intermission.
Fort Lewis hosts UC-Colorado Springs (7-14, 6-11) at 5:30 p.m. in its annual
WBCA Pink Zone game. The Skyhawks will wear pink jerseys, which will be autographed and sold after the game to benefit the Journey of Hope Fund of Durango — a nonprofit that ensures all women have access to mammograms and other breast health services, regardless of their financial means. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the cause, and limited edition pink t-shirts will be sold to benefit the cause.
UC-Colorado Springs lost 59-58 tonight at Adams State. The Skyhawks defeated the Mountain Lions in Colorado Springs earlier this season by a 79-69 clip.
