No. 14 CSU-Pueblo defeats Skyhawk football 47-0

Returns, special teams key to ThunderWolves victory

PUEBLO, Colo. – No. 14 Colorado State-Pueblo (4-0-0 overall, 2-0-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) dominated all three phases of the game en route to a 47-0 win over Fort Lewis (1-3, 0-2) today at the DeRose ThunderBowl.

A blocked punt recovered in the endzone, a 77-yard punt return, and a 57-yard interception runback all factored into CSUP's big win.

Anthony Marshall recovered a blocked punt in the endzone to make the score 17-0 nine seconds into the second quarter. A 57-yard pick-six by Stephan Dickens 3:25 left in the first half stretched the lead to 27-0.

Midway through the third quarter, Josh Sandoval returned a punt 77 yards for another score to make the score 40-0.

The ThunderWolves outgained FLC 414 yards to 178.

Fort Lewis quarterback Tim Jenkins completed 21 of 37 passes for 165 yards, but was intercepted twice and sacked three times. Receiver Blaise Cuban caught five passed for 43 yards.

CSUP's Jesse Lewis rushed 15 times for 85 yards and one score. Ross Dausin passed for 135 yards on 13-for-19 passing.

Terry Begaye recorded 13 tackles (five solo), while Tim Muhovich had 12 tackles (three solo) for the Skyhawks.

Fort Lewis travels to Colorado Mines (3-1, 1-1) at noon next Saturday. The Fort Lewis College Alumni Association will sponsor a tailgate party in Golden.
