COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Fort Lewis will host Colorado Christian in the first round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Shootout, which begins tomorrow at four sites across the conference.

The Skyhawks (22-4 overall, 19-3 in RMAC games) are seeded second in the tournament and will host seventh seed Colorado Christian (13-15, 11-11) at 6 p.m. tomorrow in Whalen Gymnasium.

Fort Lewis was originally scheduled to host UC-Colorado Springs (15-12, 11-11), but an interpretation of the league's tiebreaker was changed yesterday.

“An interpretation of the league's basketball tiebreaker policy was made pertaining to a four-way tiebreaker for women's basketball seeds fifth-eighth,” said RMAC Assistant Commissioner Sarah Meier. “After a conference call with the league's ADs (yesterday), the interpretation has been changed and the sixth and seventh seeds have been flipped.”

The Skyhawks swept the series with the Cougars this year, winning 74-50 in Durango on Jan. 13 and 79-59 in Lakewood on Feb. 18. CCU is a strong opponent that swept the series with RMAC regular season champion Metro State this year.

Because this is a league playoff game, no previously issued tickets or passes will be honored. All fans — including FLC students, faculty, staff, retirees, boosters, corporate partners, and Athletic Hall of Famers — must pay admission. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens (ages 65 and older) and students (ages 13 through college), $3 for children (ages 6-12), and free for children age 5 and younger.

One hundred free student tickets will be available to Fort Lewis College students on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must show their ID in the Skyhawk Athletic Office to receive a ticket. An additional 100 free tickets are being set aside for Colorado Christian University students.

The first round game will be streamed on AmericaOne at a cost of $9. Season passes will not be accepted. The link to the AmericaOne stream is http://www.b2livetv.com/partner_members.asp?id=202.

Tuesday's game will not be broadcast on KIUP (930 AM). Instead, Skyhawk play-by-play announcer Ken Flint will travel to Adams State at cover tomorrow's game between the sixth-seeded Skyhawk men's team and the third-seeded Grizzlies at 7 p.m.

The other first-round women's games are: No. 8 Colorado Mesa at No. 1 Metro State at 5 p.m.; No. 6 UC-Colorado Springs at No. 3 Colorado State-Pueblo at 7 p.m.; and No. 5 Colorado Mines at No. 4 Western State at 7 p.m.

The Fort Lewis/Colorado Christian winner will face the Colorado State-Pueblo/UC-Colorado Springs winner at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Colorado State Fair Events Center in Pueblo.

The Metro State/Colorado Mesa winner will play the Western State/Colorado Mines winner at 3 p.m. Friday at the Colorado State Fair Events Center in Pueblo.

The RMAC Shootout women's championship game will be played at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Colorado State Fair Events Center in Pueblo.

For the eighth year in a row, Altitude Sports & Entertainment, a network available in more than six million households throughout the U.S., will air the RMAC Shootout championship games. Live coverage begins with the men's title game at 3 p.m. on Altitude 2.

Former Denver Nuggets player and head coach Bill Hanzlik will be part of the broadcast team for this year's RMAC Shootout, the conference basketball tournament championships. Hanzlik's son, Robby, is a senior on the Adams State men's basketball team.

The Fort Lewis women, ranked No. 15 in the latest USA TODAY ESPN Division II coaches poll, won the 2011 RMAC Shootout.
