Box Score GOLDEN, Colo. – In took 81 minutes to break a scoreless game, but the fifth-ranked Colorado School of Mines broke the tie at 81:34, handing the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team a 1-0 loss.
"We got a lot better tonight," said Fort Lewis head women's soccer coach Damian Clarke. "Our kids grew so much tonight. Mines is one of the best teams in the country. They're legitimately that good to be ranked fifth in the nation. Our kids realized how good they could be. It was one of the best Division II women's soccer games I've seen. It was definitely a fun game to be a part of."
Bree Archuleta received a low left wing cross and chipped in from 10 yards out at 81:34 to score the only goal of the game. Anna Evans and Cari Smith both earned assists on the game-winning goal.
The loss gives the Skyhawks a 10-3-0 overall record and a 6-3- 0 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Orediggers remain undefeated with a 13-0-1 record (10-0-0 RMAC).
Megan Striedel led the Skyhawks with four shots. She was responsible for two of the Skyhawks three shots on goal.
Caitlyn Espinosa stopped five of the Orediggers six shots on goal.
The Skyhawks will return home this Sunday to face off against CSU-Pueblo at 1 p.m.
