Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – Six Fort Lewis College women's basketball players scored in double digits Saturday afternoon in a 101-62 season opening win at home against Northern New Mexico.
Christie Groh led all players with 20 points after making 7-of-12 field goals and 3-of-4 from the free throw line and from three-point range.
Kate Bayes came off the bench to score 17 points on 5-of-7 from the floor and 7-of-9 from the charity stripe.
Ashley Kuchar added 15 points, followed by
Mary Brinton's 13 points, Michelle Tuner's 12 points and
Erika Richards 10 points.
Kaile Magazzeni pulled down a team high 12 rebounds to go with her two assists and five points.
Erin Curry dished out seven assists without committing a turnover.
The Skyhawks held Northern New Mexico to a 31.3 field goal shooting percentage (20-of-64) and 23.3 percent from long range (7-of-30).
As a team, Fort Lewis dished out 28 assists and committed 15 turnovers, while Northern New Mexico recorded 12 assists and 12 turnovers.
FLC netted 51.4 percent of their field goals (37-of-72), including 48 percent from long range (12-of-25).
The Skyhawks will travel to Stephenville, Texas Nov. 15-16 to face host school Tarleton State University at 5 p.m. on Nov. 15, and Texas Woman's University the following day at 12 p.m.
