There was a storm on the horizon as the Fort Lewis College Women's Lacrosse Team (6-7) took on the Adams State Grizzlies (3-8), and it would be the Grizzlies caught in it as the Skyhawks were raining down goals all game long, taking the win 19-7.
The Skyhawks scored within the first 15 seconds and never trailed after that, going up 4-0 before the Grizzlies answered. Thanks to three straight goals in the last 7:30 of the first half, including one open net goal after a penalty by the Skyhawks' goalkeeper, Adams State was able to cut into the lead and make it 10-5 at the half.
FLC was just too strong, though, firing 20 shots in the second half and scoring nine goals to the Grizzlies' two. Skyhawks
Jessica Norby,
Marissa DiCecco, and
Kylie Smith led the scoring with three goals each. Lexy Hamilton was best for the Grizzlies with three goals of her own.
As good as the offense was, the defense for FLC was just as impressive. Adams State managed only 23 shots in the game. Goalkeeper
Alyssa Spencer had a great day with 11 saves for the Skyhawks.
The final regular season home game against Colorado Mesa (3-8) is next for the Skyhawk Women's Lacrosse Team on April 26.
