2014 Skyhawks Softball Weekly Game Notes - Feb. 12, 2014

Skyhawk Notes

The Skyhawks opened the 2014 season in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Montana State, Billings Desert Stinger Invitational.  FLC went 3-2, capping off the weekend with a win over Notre Dame de Namur, snapping NDNU's four game winning streak.
The Skyhawks 3-2 overall record is the best in the league.
Junior transfer Kiley Raica earned RMAC Pitcher of the Week honors after her performance in the Desert Stinger.  Raica appeared in four games and started three in her first weekend pitching for the Skyhawks. In 14.2 innings pitched, she posted an ERA of 3.82, allowed 12 runs (eight earned) on 21 hits, and fanned eight batters while walking only one.
Fort Lewis will play five games this weekend in Canyon, Texas at the West Texas A&M Invitational.  Fort Lewis will face their third nationally ranked opponent in two weeks when they go against No. 17 Angelo State and No. 8 West Texas A&M.
The Skyhawks were picked seventh in the RMAC preseason coaches poll.  Senior third baseman Chelsea Rodriguez, last year's RMAC Academic Player of the Year, was also named to the RMAC preseason team.
Rodriguez is the FLC career leader in runs (127) and walks (104).  She is currently ranked second in runs batted in (107), home runs (14), and total bases (274).
