"These were tough games today," said Fort Lewis College head softball coach Kira Zeiter.  "We jumped to the lead in both, which we were planning to do today.  Tomorrow we will plan to continue the offense all game long and finish the games off."

In the opening game, the Skyhawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.  Chelsea Rodriguez started the inning with a double to left center, followed by Destinee DeHerrera's double to left center that drove in Rodriguez.

The fifth inning featured three runs by the Skyhawks.  With two outs by the first two batters at the plate, Adriana Rosthenhausler reached first base with a walk and then advanced to second base on a passed ball.  Rodriguez then drew a walk and advanced to second after DeHerrera singled up the middle.  Rosthenhausler scored the second run of the game on a wild pitch.  After Myndee Thompson drew the third walk of the inning, Kamali'i Peneku singled to score Rodriguez.  With the bases loaded, Hayley Bolyard drew another walk that scored DeHerrera before the third out of the inning.

Texas A&M-Kingsville cut the lead to 4-1 after an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth.

Fort Lewis was held scoreless in the sixth inning and gave up six hits and committed two errors that scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth as they lost their lead to trail 7-4.
