Skyhawk Notes
The Skyhawks appeared at No. 8 in the first NCAA South Central Region ranking, published Feb. 19. The top eight teams in the region qualify for the regional tournament.
Fort Lewis is tied for fifth place in the RMAC standings. The top four teams will host a RMAC quarterfinal game on Tuesday, March 4. The highest remaining seed following the quarterfinal round will host the final four.
Fort Lewis' 89 points in an overtime win Friday at Metro State were the third most points scored this season. The Skyhawks 38 made field goals and 72 field goal attempts marked a season team high. They dished out the second most assists this season at MSUD with 26.
Christie Groh scored a career high 29 points Friday at Metro State, as did
Erika Richards with her 27 points. They also recorded career highs in field goals made with 13 (Groh) and 11 (Richards).
Western State enters Friday's match up on a 13-game losing streak. Their last road win was Jan. 3 at Colorado Mines. The Mountaineers started the conference season 4-0, but have gone 1-15 since then.

Colorado Mesa enters the weekend undefeated and ranked No. 2 in the WBCA national poll (Feb. 24) and No. 2 in the NCAA South Central Region (Feb. 19). The Mavericks are 24-0 on the year and 18-0 in the RMAC. In the past two seasons, CMU is 55-2 overall and 41-1 in league games, including a 27 consecutive RMAC winning streak.
Erika Richards is ranked in several categories in the Skyhawks career record books, including scoring (8th, 1,187 points), free throws (9th, 239), 3-point field goals (8th, 132), and made field goals (10th, 408).
Ashley Kuchar has netted 1,106 career points, ranking her 9th in the record books. She is also ranked 10th in steals (173), 11th in blocked shots (52), 3rd in 3-point field goals (188), 7th in assists (304) and 12th in made field goals (386).
In just two seasons with the program,
Mary Brinton ranks 13th in Skyhawks career record books with 50 blocked shots.
Six Skyhawk women's basketball student-athletes were named to the 2013-14 RMAC All-Academic Team. Senior guard
Ashley Kuchar was voted the Women's Basketball Academic Player of the Year. Earning Honor Roll accolades are

Mary Brinton recorded a career high six blocks against Regis University on Jan. 17, just one block shy of tying the school record of seven. Brinton ranks second in the conference in blocked shots per game (1.67). As a team, the Skyhawks lead the RMAC in blocked shots, recording 3.9 per game.
Ashley Kuchar and
Erika Richards each joined the 1,000th point club in January 2014. They became the 12th and 13th Skyhawks to score at least 1,000 points.
