Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – Senior guard
Ashley Kuchar scored a career high 25 points and pulled down a career high 13 rebounds Friday night in a 71-64 home win over Western New Mexico University. The win moved the Skyhawks to 12-7 overall and 9-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and it marked their fifth win in six games.
The Skyhawk trailed most of the game against the Mustangs but Kuchar's three-point field goal against Western New Mexico gave FLC a 57-55 lead with three minutes left in regulation which they would hold onto for the remainder of the game.
Kuchar finished the game making 5-of-15 field goals, 3-of-9 three-point field goals and all 12 free throw attempts.
Erika Richards tallied 13 points, nine of which came from the charity stripe, and
Christie Groh posted 11 points and nine rebounds.
Kylie Santos came off the bench to post 11 points, four steals and three assists.
The Skyhawks, who shot a season low 27.6 percent from the floor (16-of-58), made 85.4 percent of their free throws, hitting on 35-of-41.
Western New Mexico was led by Stephanie Moore with 16 points. The Mustangs made 33.3 percent from the floor (19-57). Fort Lewis out-rebounded the Mustangs by eight, 47-39, and the Skyhawks bench outscored WNMU, 20-11.
Fort Lewis will play host to New Mexico Highlands Saturday night. Action begins at 5:30 p.m. at Whalen Gymnasium.
