The Skyhawks earned their first sweep of the season this past weekend against Colorado Christian at home. It marked the first time this season Fort Lewis played their home games on Aspen Field (previous home series was played at Bloomfield High School).
Fort Lewis also recorded their first shutout of the season after junior pitcher Kiley Raica recorded a two-hit, seven inning shutout on Sunday over the Cougars.
Senior Chelsea Rodriguez became the all-time home run leader at Fort Lewis on March 3 against Adams State. Rodriguez has tallied 34 career homers, breaking Jenna Peters record of 33. She is tied for the school record with Natalie Janes for most career hits with 174. Rodriguez also holds career records in total bases (321), runs (148), RBIs (128), and base on balls (120).Â
Senior Destinee DeHerrera owns the career record for most doubles with 37.
Rodriguez leads the league in on-base percentage (.583), runs scored (28) and walks (22).
Adriana Rosthenhausler ranks third in the league in runs (24) and hits (31). Myndee Thompson has the third most runs batted in in the league with 28, followed by Destinee DeHerrera's 28.
Fort Lewis is 10-0 when leading their opponent after the second inning, and 12-0 when leading after the third inning. They are also 8-2 when hitting two or more home runs.
As a team, the Skyhawks rank in the top five in the conference in multiple categories, including runs scored (1st, 155), runs batted in (1st, 135), hits (2nd, 216), total bases (1st, 346), walks (1st, 115), home runs (2nd, 30), and on-base percentage (2nd, .411).
