Skyhawks Win Fifth Match of the Season, 15-9 over Albright College

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Facing Albright College for the first time in school history, the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team recorded a 15-9 win Thursday afternoon from Walker Field in Grand Junction, Colo.  The win marked the Skyhawks fifth win as they improve to 5-1 on the season.

"It was a very good team win today," said Fort Lewis College head women's lacrosse coach Kelsey MacDonald.  "We were very successful by holding the ball on the attack and making them play a lot of defense which took them out of their comfort zone.  Our defense played amazing.  We put together a full 60 minutes of lacrosse."

Marissa DiCecco led the Skyhawks offense with three goals and one assist.  Fort Lewis, which never trailed in the game and led 8-4 at halftime, also received multiple goals from Ally Kvidera (three goals), Ellie Carpenter (two goals), and Kylie Smith (two goals).

Fort Lewis' defense was paced by Abby Kvidera with five ground balls, Katlyne Duffey with four caused turnovers and Alyssa Spencer with seven saves.

Albright College, a Division III institution from Reading, Pa., was led by Giuliana Rizzotti who posted a game high five goals and one assist.

The Skyhawks notched 29 shots to Albright's 19 and picked up 24 ground balls to AC's 18.  The Lions won 17-of-25 draw controls, but Fort Lewis forced AC to commit 21 turnovers while the Skyhawks committed only 16.

Fort Lewis will return home Saturday, March 22 for a 1 p.m. match at Ray Dennison Memorial Field against No. 13 Lindenwood.
