Skyhawks Notes

The Skyhawks lost a 7-6 match at home to #13 Lindenwood University Saturday afternoon.  FLC, which is 0-5 against the Lions, played their closest game against LU with only a 1-point deficit.
 
Fort Lewis took a two goal lead against Lindenwood, marking only the second time the season the Lions were scored on first, and only the second time they were held to under 10 goals.
 
The Skyhawks will play #5 Florida Southern (Lakeland, Fla.) for the first time in school history today.  They will then play at St. Leo University on March 27, which also marks the first meeting between the two teams.
 
Fort Lewis recorded a 22-goal win over Rockhurst University (Kansas City, Mo.) Monday afternoon at home.  The Skyhawks defeated the Hawks, 23-1, in their first ever meeting.  This is the first year Rockhurst has sponsored women's lacrosse.
 
Fort Lewis recorded multiple team highs Monday against Rockhurst: points (40), goals (23), assists (17), and shots (36).
 
The Skyhawks will face back-to-back nationally ranked opponents on March 22 and March 24.  FLC will host #13 Lindenwood on Saturday at 1 p.m., before flying to No. 7 Florida Southern College on Monday. 
 
Through games played on March 23, the Skyhawks are ranked fifth in Division II for most ground balls per game (26.86).  They also ranked 16th nationally in caused turnovers (10.14), 11th in scoring margin (7.43) and 15th in scoring offense (15.00).
