Lacrosse Opens Home Season with 20-10 Win over Shorter

DURANGO, Colo. – Jessica Norby scored four goals in the home opening game for the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team Wednesday afternoon at Ray Dennison Memorial Field in Durango, Colo.  Fort Lewis defeated Shorter University, 20-10.  The Skyhawks remain unblemished, improving to 3-0 overall.
 
Norby scored the first goal of the game from Ellie Carpenter's assist at 29:52 to give the Skyhawks a 1-0 lead they would not relinquish.  Brook Wineland recorded the game winning goal with five minutes left in the first half for an 11-3 lead.  The Skyhawks held a nine goal lead over SU at halftime, 12-3. 
 
Wineland, Norby and Ellie Carpenter led the Skyhawks with five shots each.
 
Alyssa Spencer earned her third win of the season after making seven saves in 60 minutes.
 
The Skyhawks outshot the Hawks 36-22.
 
Fort Lewis will face Mercy College on March 15 in Denver, Colo. at 12 p.m.
