Lacrosse Falls 10-6 to Regis

Box Score DENVER, Colo. – One day after defeating the 11th ranked team in the nation, the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team fell to Regis University Sunday morning, 10-6, at the Regis Lacrosse Field in Denver, Colo.

"Today was one of those games where you play hard and play well and you fall short," said Fort Lewis College head lacrosse coach Kelsey MacDonald.  "We had a couple of hard games this weekend and our offense did a good job possessing the ball, and the defense did a good job led by our goalie who made some amazing saves.  I am proud of how our team competed today and this weekend."

The Rangers jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the game before Kathryn Dunn put the Skyhawks on the scoreboard at 17:29.  After RU netted their fourth goal of the game, Ellie Carpenter and Dunn scored back-to-back goals to cut the Rangers lead down to one, 4-3.  Before halftime, the Rangers' Erin Todd scored her second and third goals of the half to extend RU's lead 6-3 at halftime.

Dunn notched her third goal of the game seven minutes into the second half off of Kylie Smith's assist.  Regis added two more goals to take an 8-4 lead before Jam Vertner found the back of the net for two straight Skyhawk goals within three minutes of action.

The Skyhawks trailed by only two goals (6-4) with seven minutes left in regulation before Regis closed the game with back-to-back goals in the final two minutes.

The loss moves the Skyhawks to 7-6 on the season and 3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  Regis improves to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the league.

Fort Lewis was out-shot by Regis, 29-17, and committed 18 turnovers to the Rangers 12.  The Skyhawks won 12-of-26 ground ball opportunities and eight of 19 draw controls.
