Box Score 2 DURANGO, Colo. – Five Fort Lewis College softball seniors played their final home games of their career Saturday afternoon at Aspen Field –

Mariah Stuart,
Chelsea Rodriguez, and
Destinee DeHerrera.
The Skyhawks avoided the series sweep by UC-Colorado Springs after winning the series finale, 4-2. UCCS took game on Saturday, 13-8 in eight innings.
"We are proud that the seniors got to go out on playing such a good day of softball," said Fort Lewis College head coach
Kira Zeiter. "Our team should feel good going into our last weekend of conference play. I feel very confident that our team chemistry will help us to finish the season strong going into the conference tournament. Overall we had good performances from all, getting their individual jobs done that allowed the team to succeed. Congratulations to our five seniors who we know will graduate and be successful in their future endeavors."
Jeovanna Rios doubled to right field to drive in
Missy Fundora to give the Skyhawks a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning in game two.
Myndee Thompson then drove in Rios for a 2-0 lead after one full inning.
Kaitlyn Bending added another run for the Skyhawks when she singled up the middle to score

UCCS got on the score board in the sixth inning. With the bases loaded and no outs and FLC on defense, Bolyard made a play at the plate to prevent a run before the Mountain Lions hit a single to score one run. Thompson scored her second run of the game to give the Skyhawks a 4-1 lead after six. UCCS homered in the top of the seventh but the Skyhawks held onto the win, 4-2.
Kiley Raica earned her eighth win in the circle after pitching seven complete innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on nine hits.
Thompson paced the Skyhawks bats, going 2-for-2 at the plate and scoring twice while driving in one run.
In the third game of the series and first game on Saturday, the Skyhawks held an 8-2 lead heading into the sixth inning. UCCS hit two home runs – including a grand slam – in the sixth inning to plate six runs on five hits and tie the game at 8-8. After a scoreless seventh inning, the game moved into extra innings where the Mountain Lions recorded five runs in the top of the eighth to earn their third win of the series.
Offensively for the Skyhawks, Fundora,
Adriana Rosthenhausler, Thompson and Bolyard each notched two each. Peneku hit a three run home run in the third to account for three of her four runs batted in while Thompson was the lone Skyhawks to plate multiple runs (two).
Fort Lewis will play their final regular season games next Saturday and Sunday at Chadron State College.
