Lacrosse Held to Three Goals by Regis

Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis College scored all three goals against Regis University Saturday afternoon in the first half as they were held scoreless in the second half in an 11-3 home loss at Ray Dennison Memorial Field.
 
The non-conference loss moves the Skyhawks to 5-5 on the season.  Regis improves to 7-3 overall.
 
"It was a game where we didn't play to our full potential," said Fort Lewis College head lacrosse coach Kelsey MacDonald.  "We played ourselves out of the game.  Our defense and goalie Alyssa Spencer played really well for us today."
 
Regis went on the scoreboard first at 27:17 before Ellie Carpenter notched her 18th goal of the season five minutes later.  The Rangers took a 4-1 lead with nine minutes left in the first half.  Shea Wales assisted Brook Wineland and Carpenter assisted Jessica Norby as the Skyhawks added two goals in the final eight minutes to cut Regis' lead to 5-3 at the half.
 
In the second half, the Skyhawks were held to five shots (three shots on goal).
 
The Rangers outshot FLC, 28-11 and picked up 28 ground balls to FLC's 17.
 
Carpenter won four of the Skyhawks seven draw controls, while Katlyne Duffey notched seven of the Skyhawks 17 ground balls.
 
The Skyhawks will play host to Colorado Mesa University Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
