Box Score 2 DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College softball team played host to Dixie State University Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at Aspen Field. The Skyhawks dropped both games to the Red Storm, 11-2 and 7-2.
The loss moves FLC to 21-19 overall, while DSU improves to 33-8.
In game one,
Jeovanna Rios hit her second career home run in the bottom of the second to give FLC a 1-0 lead. The Red Storm added five runs in the fourth and fifth innings for a 5-1 advantage before
Adriana Rosthenhausler drove in
Missy Fundora.
DSU finished the game plating five runs in the seventh inning, including two two-run home runs. They finished the game with four home runs and 15 hits.
Hayley Bolyard led the Skyhawks with two hits.
Kiley Raica pitched all seven innings, allowing 11 runs (nine earned) on 15 hits.
In the nightcap game,
Myndee Thompson hit a triple to right field to score Fundora for a 1-0 lead. The Red Storm added seven runs in three innings, but
Mariah Stuart drove in the Skyhawks second run of the game after doubling to left center to plate Rios.
Fundora and Bolyard each tallied two hits to account for four of FLC's nine hits.
Olivia Goldberg earned her first start in the circle, working all seven innings and allowing seven runs (six earned) on 14 hits.
Fort Lewis will travel to Metro State April 12-13 for a four game series.
