Regis Hands Skyhawks 14-5 Loss in RMAC Championship Game

Box Score DENVER, Colo. – Playing in their first ever Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference women's lacrosse championship tournament, the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team fell to Regis University, 14-5 in the championship game.

The Skyhawks finish the season with a program best 10 wins (10-7 overall).   The No. 2 seed in the tournament, Fort Lewis advanced to today's championship match after defeating No. 3 seed Colorado Mesa University Friday afternoon.

The Rangers scored the first nine goals of the game before Jam Vertner and Jessica Norby netted back-to-back goals within 17 seconds to cut the Rangers lead down to 9-2 at halftime. 
Marissa DeCecco, Kathryn Dunn and Norby each posted second half goals for the Skyhawks.  DiCecco assisted on two of FLC's goals to lead the offense with three points. 

Brook Wineland, Katlyn Duffey and Amanda Cawker each caused two Regis turnovers. Duffey picked up four ground balls to lead the Skyhawks.
Fort Lewis was outshot by the Rangers, 21-12.  FLC picked up 15 of 39 ground balls and successfully cleared 17 of 21 attempts. 

Alyssa Spencer made six saves in the game, notching three saves in each half as the Rangers tallied 20 shots on goal.

Five Skyhawks were named to the inaugural RMAC Women's Lacrosse All-Tournament Team: Kathryn Dunn, Jam Vertner, Brook Wineland, Jessica Norby and Marissa DiCecco.
