Box Score LAREDO, Texas – September 14, 2014 – The Fort Lewis College men's soccer team snapped a two game losing streak Sunday afternoon after upsetting No. 6 Texas A&M-International in Laredo, Texas, 4-2. The win evens the Skyhawks record at 2-2.

Oige Kennedy. "They reacted extremely positively after our disappointing second half on Friday. We played very well against a very good team in what is a tough place to come and win on the road. Texas A&M International is a good experienced group that play some very attractive football. We looked strong from the start keeping the ball and controlling the tempo of the game. It was a very solid road performance. We will have a tough turnaround with the league season string Wednesday at Adams State on the road, but out guys are excited to get to playing some RMAC teams."
Ranked No. 20 in the latest NSCAA national poll, the Skyhawks went on the scoreboard first after
Austin Derksen found
Yannis Becker for a header at 26:13. Fort Lewis took advantage of an early red card by Texas A&M-International when Joaquin Diaz was sent off 14 minutes into the game.
Leading 1-0 at the break, Becker assisted
Luke Lawrence who headed the ball in from five yards out to give the Skyhawks a 2-0 lead at 57:36.
Zac Lawrence netted the game winning goal at 76:11 when
Tamino Kroeger fed him a long pass which he converted from 10 yards out.
The Dust Devils received another red card at 77:06. Playing two men down, Javani Macias prevented the Dust Devils from being shutout when he scored on a penalty kick at 80:13. Two minutes later Funcia Kenneh brought the Dust Devils to within one goal, 3-2 with eight minutes remaining. Sophomore
Tamino Kroeger answered just two seconds later when
Tyler Miller found Kroeger for the insurance goal, 4-2 at 82:14.
The Skyhawks doubled Texas A&M-International's shot output, 14-7. Fort Lewis notched six shots on goal to the Dust Devils four.
Ryan Schaul made his first appearance in goal with two saves and two goals allowed in 90 minutes between the posts.
The Skyhawks will open the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season on Wednesday at Adams State for a 4 p.m. match.
