2014 Skyhawks Women's Soccer Game Day Notes - Sept. 23, 2014After four straight games on the road, the Skyhawks return to Dirks Field this weekend to play host to Western State Colorado University (4-0-2, 1-0-1 RMAC) and Colorado State University-Pueblo (2-2-1, 0-0-1).
Friday's meeting against the Mountaineers will be the first time the two teams have competed on Dirks Field (with the exception of a pre-season scrimmage this year). Â
Western State added women's soccer as a varsity program in 2012. Â In two meetings, each team has earned one win each.
Francesca Rand leads the Mountaineers with four goals, two of which have been game-winning goals. Â Meghan Jedrejewsi has played every minute in goal, allowing only two goals in 580 minutes (0.31 goals against average). Â She has made 30 saves and shutout five opponents.
Seven different ThunderWolves have found the back of the net this season as CSUP has out-scored their opponent, 7-5. Laikyn Koss has a team high 17 shots and nine shots on goal. Â
Between the posts, Jenn Rucker owns a 2-1-1 record with one shutout and a 1.74 goals against average.Â
Fort Lewis holds a 19-14-5 series lead against Sunday's opponent, CSU-Pueblo. The Skyhawks are 10-6-1 on their home turf against the ThunderWolves. Â FLC is currently on a five game winning streak against the Pack and have won their last five matches on Dirks Field.
Courtney Riley has accounted for both of the Skyhawks game winning goals this year. Riley snapped a 470-minute scoreless streak by the Skyhawks Sunday at New Mexico Highlands in a 1-0 win. Â The last goal scored before Sunday's win occurred Sept. 4 when Riley netted the game-winning goal in the season and home opener against Texas Woman's University (W, 2-1). Â
Riley leads the Skyhawks with five points this season (two goals, one assist).
Espinosa recorded her first shutout and the Skyhawks first shutout of the season on Sunday at NMHU. Â In 90 minutes between the posts, she made six saves.
The Skyhawks improve to 13-2-3 all time against the Cowgirls in Las Vegas, N.M.
On Friday at Regis, the Skyhawks and Rangers were scoreless until the 72nd minute when RU netted the lone goal of the game.
Five of the Skyhawks six games this season have been determined by one goal or fewer (T, 0-0 vs. Midwestern State).
