Skyhawks Men's Soccer Game Day Notes - Sept. 30, 2014

Fort Lewis recorded their second clean sheet of the season Friday afternoon at Dirks Field against University of Colorado Colorado Springs.  Malik Badawi scored his first career goal in the game which proved to be the game-winner in the 1-0 win.

Ryan Schaul made seven saves in goal to preserve the shutout.  It was his second shutout of the season (W, 2-0 at Adams State on Sept. 17).

On Sunday at home against No. 14 Regis University, the Skyhawks suffered their first loss of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season, 3-1.  Regis took a 3-0 before Luke Lawrence netted his second goal of the season to prevent the Rangers from shutting out the Skyhawks.

Fort Lewis will face Adams State University on Friday at 3 p.m.  The two teams met earlier this season on Sept. 17.  Fort Lewis notched its first shutout of the season (W, 2-0) in that matchup.

The Skyhawks are 9-1-0 all-time against the Grizzlies, and 4-1-0 on Dirks Field.

Sunday's opponent - Colorado State University-Pueblo - is coming off an upset win over No. 8 Metro State last Sunday.  The Pack's offense is led by Matt Marchena's five points.  Mountain Mitchell is also tied with Marchena for the team lead in goals (two).

Sam Haseltine has started all eight games in goal and has tallied a 2-6-0 record.  He has stopped 55 shots on goal and allowed 14 goals (1.74 goals against average).

Fort Lewis leads the series with the ThunderWolves, 41-8-3, and they hold a 24-3-1 advantage when playing on Dirks Field.

The Skyhawks are tied with Metro State and Regis for the most goals in the conference (15).  FLC has allowed the fifth most goals in the league (11, 1.38 per game) and are ranked fifth in the league in goals against average (1.38). FLC leads the RMAC in corners with 7.25 per game (58 total).

Three Skyhawks rank in the top ten in the conference in shots: Yannis Becker (T-3, 26), Cesar Castillo (T-8, 22) and Tamino Kroeger (T-8, 22).

Kroeger is tied for third in the RMAC in points (11), followed by Becker's 10 (fifth).  Kroeger also ranks second (tied) in the RMAC in goals (five), followed by Becker's three (T-7).  Becker has a league high four assists through eight games.
